I was worried about mine too. It ended up coming in perfect, except for the chest area. I think this dress was designed for some kind of Chesty LaRue because I needed it taken in quite a bit on tip. Everywhere else fit perfectly. Then I had the same fear going to the second fitting this past Saturday. I was worried I’d gained weight and the dress wouldn’t fit. Turns out, I’d lost a little bit (even though I’ve been eating like crazy lately) and I hae room to gain a few during the holidays.

I think the sample looks great on you, and with a corset back you’ll be fine. Some shops try to get people to order larger. I think it’s because they hope to make money taking the dress in those extra three sizes. The woman I ordered from showed me the size chart and I was familiar with my measurements so I kind of knew where I would end up, which she confirmed when she measured me.

Another store I went to measured oddly (tape measure had slack around my chest, was sideways on my hips and waist) so it added a couple of inches to me. She measured me at two to three sizes larger than I ended up being based on the samples.

Nice dress! I hope that it fits perfectly, and you’re probably right that since the sample was 2 sizes too small, the one you ordered will be close.  But even if it’s not, that is what alterations are for!  And since you asked about our dress fitting fears, I’m totally afraid. Seeing you in your dress puts it in perspective though. Make sure to update w/more pics once you get your actual dress!

ETA: I just thought of this – don’t know if it’s for real but I’ve heard sample dresses are actually larger than the tagged size since they get stretched out.

If you don’t plan to have them do alterations then take the dress home and try it on alone. You should be fine! The corset back will definitely help wih any fluctuations.

I would definitely thoroughly inspect the dress for damage or issues, but if you don’t want to try it on in front of them them don’t! Do you care if they think you are weird?

@acciotoni:  Okay sorry no. The one my daughter tried on was at David’s bridal and I could have sworn it was that one.

Sorry! But it’s really beautiful
