I bought a dress which was too small for me because it was a $1000 dollar dress that I got for $60.00. It fits around the waist but not up higher around back just under the shoulder blades. Will a corset help?

I’m not sure this is a corset issue. Can you spend a little extra money and take it to a seamstress for alterations?

A corset will just push everything up, so it might actually make the problem worse. Take it to a seamstress and see if it can be let out. GL!

I agree with the PP – it sounds like it just doesn’t fit your chest (ribcage) properly. You will probably need a seamstress to let it out a bit. If it is a zipper back, you may be able to convert it to a corset to give you some extra room, but just putting a corset under to try and keep everything sucked in probably won’t work because it won’t shrink your ribcage.

Most dresses can be let out an inch or two. Mine actually had so much seaming that I could have had it let out 6 in (6 seams with 1 in allowance each!). Luckily, I only needed about an inch. I hate it when brides think they have to alter themselves to their dress – make the dress fit you!
