What are your thoughts about this BM dress (as seen in blue or emerald green)? Do you think it would be fit/flattering for sizes 6-18? Do you think the wedding party would look modernly chic or frumpy? I would love for my girls to wear something a little different from the norm without looking a mess. I'm going for a romantic modern city wedding, but having a hellava time picking a dress. I've included my dress along with the groom's attire.

Please be brutally honest. Well, not too brutal, lol!

If you are trying to find something for that range of sizes, you might go with something that slightly flares out in a small bit of aline.  I can tell you that I could never wear that dress, it would make my rear look twice as big as it really is and that is already big.

@HueysLuda:  I love the color, and the dresses are pretty.  However, I think all of the detail on the chest area is likely to not be flattering on bridesmaids who may have a large bust.

I think that if your size 18 girls have any kind of a chest then the ruffles will not be doing anything for them. (just saying as a size 16/18 with more than a handful I have worn styles like that before and let me tell you my "girls" didn't need that much attention).

@tksjewelry:  I thought of that. The description of the dress says that its a-line...but maybe not enough. I was hoping that if its ordered in the right size then the dress would skim over the booty, lol!

@Brielle & @mkathleenwhite: Darn it! Well does it help that my 18 girl has an hourglass shape, but her bottom is a little bigger than her upper body. Would that give some balance?

@HueysLuda:  You would really have to get her to try it on, but if it is as straight a cut dress as it looks it's going to be a hard to fit gown.

@mkathleenwhite:  That maybe a challenge with sample sizes.

Nice idea, but I feel like that material won't be very "forgiving" in the stomach/leg area. And it doesn't really look a-line...looks more "sheath" in that picture. Is she wearing a belt in the picture or does it come like that?

I'm a size 12/14 and that would not be flattering on me.  The belt would call attention to my problem area: my waistline.

@Jamcnair:  Yep, its a belt that comes with it.

All: Here's a better pic that shows the shape of the dress

I set out today to find this dress. I needed to see it on a non-model size woman to get a better feel for it. Thought I'd share with the hive.

This sample is a little too small in the hip area.

What size is the person that you showed? I don't think it will be very flattering on a size 18.

@HueysLuda:  honestly, as a size 16/18 I cringe at that dress. It is very pretty but on my frame it would be scarey. LOL

@bookworm88: She's a 12. I spoke with two different shops about my concerns with the dress and how it would fit a street size 18. Both shops pointed out concerns and what it would do for her. I also spoke to my BM that wears an 18 and she was okay with the style. I still haven't made any decisions yet. Its still up in the air.

@bestbuddies: I hear you. I wonder if my bm is secretly thinking the samething? I cringe at that thought of having an average bm dress. lol! This coming week I hope to see this dress on a bm. I know hope it will work better for my 18 girl with the proper under garments.

@HueysLuda:  undergarments make all the difference!! :D The perfect pair of spanx can make a huge difference! Who knows, it might work. Plus, it really depends on where she carries her weight too. My love handles is what would scare me in this dress. If it looks good and you can get a pic I would love to see it :D I hope it works out!! Good luck.

@bestbuddies: She carries most of her weight in the butt and hips. Thanks for the well wishes. I've been on a hunt for bm dresses for a long time. I'm ready for it to be over. lol! No matter what I choose, I'm taking a chance if she can't try it on. This is where I hate bridal shops...I know this is beating a dead horse, but they need to supply larger sample sizes for BMs too.

If I can get a pic I will be sure to share :)

@HueysLuda:  oh, well spanx can make the butt and legs smooth in a dress like that. Just make sure she orders up, because that seems like it is straight so if not it might clinge to her thighs.

@Ms. Blue:  No need to be sorry, I'm not offended. lol! Size 6 or less...why is that? Are you speaking of the blue or grey dress?

@HueysLuda:  the blue.... the ruffles would add bulk on top, generally a v-neck or sweetheart neck are more flattering and open up the neckline, also the belt would be a problem if they carry weight in their stomach, and the bottom looks like it would be straight to me, which would be a problem if they carry weight in their hips/thighs/butt. I can't tell the material in the pic, but if its shiny, that isn't very flattering on larger sizes either, especially if the dress is fitted.

It is a pretty color though! I don't mean to rip it apart, I just don't think its a universally flattering dress. If your girls try it on, let us know what you think in person. I know you cant always tell from pictures, that was just my inital impression.

@mrsromo: Agreed, I would look a mile wide in that dress. It is pretty but not great for all shapes/sizes.
