Pet lovers help me pick a dress!
This year I am in charge of organizing my animal rescue’s annual ball. it’s called the Moondog Ball and it’s a really fun event with an open bar, food, dancing, live bands, dance performances.
I’m going to be front and center doing some talking to a room of 300 people! Every year prior (I’ve been going for many years now), I’d go to the thrift shop and buy myself a dress off the rack. I’ve found some awesome dresses and people compliment on my finds!
This year, I kind of want to treat myself to a new dress. Plus I”m going to have all eyes on me and doing lots of socializing.
I love dogs. So if you were me which dress would you pick? This is a fancy event, usually cocktail dresses, vintage dresses, an occasional ball gown or two. People just get dressed up but there is dress code. I love me some fit and flare dresses, but I am not retro by any means. I will probably be hosting the event for a few more years.
1. ModCloth Hounds Sleuth (cute little Doxie’s make up the pattern, 100% cotton) Pair it with a colored skinny belt and pumps!
2. Anthropologie’s Fetch and Frolic (I found one on eBay I’d have to tailor down a size though). (white background with pencil drawings of dogs, 100% cotton. Kind of summer. The event is in October
3.Bernie Dexter’s Red Dog Dress (colorful with dog cartoons, 100% cotton). Adorbs! Kind of kitcshy though.
4. Or a very resuable illusion neckline DB Bridesmaid or Best Man dress. I could use this many times. I really like it , but it depends on if the neckline lies properly or not in real life.

since you said you arent retro, I chose the first one… Though the last one is nice, I like the little play on dogs in the first one. That said, I LOVE retro and would totally wear the third one complete with peticoat and classic roller set 50’s hair.

The last one is more me I guess. I wish I were retro! I would definitely wear that Bernie Dexter dress and get all done up, but I would look like I’m faking it I guess (since I’m not a retro girl, but I love poofy dresses!). Nevertheless, this event is totally appropriate for this actually.

I voted for #3 but I love #1 too. I just feel like the last one is a little too plain? Especially if you’re going to be in the spotlight a bit. I’d try and be as outgoing and enthusiastic as possible but I totally get not being a complete retro gal.

I came to my senses. I should just wear somethng I already own.
I got this $348 Tracy Reese dress from Anthropologie (except I got in on eBay for like $30). I’ve never worn it yet. I should probably just wear it! Maybe I’ll get a chunky bib necklace for it.

@sienna76: Love the Tracy Reese dress! A statement necklace and some fab shoes and you’re ready!

Yeah that Anthro dress is gorgeous! And for $350, dang girl, you gotta wear it! I do love the first one with the houndstooth. It’s doggy but not smack-you-in-the-face doggy.
ETA: oh wait, $30?! Nice, killer deal!

ETA: Sorry this should probably be in Dress or Lounge, I started off very pet themed though!
OK, I think this dress will do! I just saved some money! The material is like a swim suit, very bouncy.
Maybe a fun rentable neckalce like one of these:

@sienna76: I don’t think any of them look fancy enough to be honest. They wouldn’t fit in with ball growns, that’s for sure.

@MrsPanda99: I mentioned above that there are usually 1-2 women in a ball gown and they stick out as looking overkill. Most of them are cocktail type dresses or just fun stand out dresses. Some people go all retro too. Men just wear dress pants and a tucked in shirt most of the time. One guy was in a tux and looked out of place. So, dressed well, but not formal.

@sienna76: Looooove that dress that you already own!!!

I love the dress you already own!!! It’s waaaaaaaay prettier than any of the others! (Although I had voted for #4, since it seems dressier than the others and I am practical, so I like that you could wear it to other things.)

I absolutely love the dress you already own!
