Last week, I broke down about my dress worst nightmare! I bought my dress at a sample dress and I was so excited to find a "Reem Acra" dress for a great price. I asked my friend a fellow BTB where she got her dress and alterations. Since its difficult to find a place that will do a great job I thought I would go where she went. My first consultation went well, the owner of the shop was so sweet and convincing that she can alter it with no problems. It’s a small little bridal shop so I thought I would get better attention and service on my dress here. So I received a quote and thought since I will need to come back for my fitting, I’ll leave my dress so I don’t have to carry back and forth. THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE!
I was so trusting to the bridal shop and they reassured me that nothing will be done to the dress until my actual fitting appointment, I felt confident that my dress would be safe. So a couple months past and I checked on the dress and told them I will need to pick it up for my trial before my fitting. They said that’s fine. I couldn’t pick it up so I had my BM pick it up and they told her nothing was done to the dress – which was weird b/c nothing should have been done. Long story short – they ALTERED my dress and made alterations to it WITHOUT ME KNOWING! I was so upset! There were pieces of the lace cut off and put in a little ziploc bag. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! I tried the dress on and it was too small on the armhole!! I was LIVID! I started to cry and didn’t know what to do.
The next day, I went to the bridal shop and had the owner get an earfull from me and told her she ruined the dress. She tried to deny any responsibility and said that it was suppose to be cut there and that it’s fixable. She explained to make the armhole bigger – she was going to cut the lace and redo all the beading & embroidery which totally shocked me. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I told her I cannot trust her with the dress anymore and that she guaranteed me that it wasn’t going to be touched until my fitting. Basically, I didn’t go back and luckily I found someone else that could fix it and I felt so relieved that she could and her prices were so much more reasonalble. This bridal shop is in NorCal in Danville, so beware brides up here, do not go to this shop – I checked the Yelp reviews and they were all bad!!! But the reviews on the place I’m having it fixed had 5-star reviews!!! Check reviews before you go to any bridal or alteration shop and do not leave your dress with them until you have your fitting. I don’t know what I was thinking!!!
