Dress Opinions

posted 2 months ago in Beehive

Hi! I'm new to the wedding message boards!

I recently purchased my dress and would love some opinions as I'm having second thoughts. :(

The girls with me when I tried it on loved it but I'm worried I may have reacted to quickly. I got the warm and fuzzy feeling iniitally, but the more I look at it, the more I wonder if I made the right choice. It's definitely not what I imagined myself wearing on my wedding day. I figured I'd go with the more traditional white strapless dress but I do like the fact that its not a dress you'll see every bride in.

It didn't fit quite right (sample was a 12, I'm a 6 or 8) so I bought it with the hopes that it would fit like a glove in my size. Also, I'm not as large as this model on top and am worried that the rouching may be a bit much for someone who doesn't have a larger chest.

i think the dress is beautiful!  with alterations, you can adjust the rouching so that it'll fit you just right so i wouldn't worry about the fit of the dress.  i love casablanca!

did you take pictures of yourself in the dress?  if not, can you go back in the store and try it on again?  this time, you could try bringing different people with you to help figure out if this dress is "you".  also, i wouldn't worry too much about what is traditional or expected.  this dress is uniquely beautiful, and still undoubtedly a wedding dress.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rouching. draping like that only has the effect of making an area look naturally more voluptuous (by virtue of adding volume), and like emileee said, it can always be re-draped or adjusted to complement your body. Also, lots of strapless dresses are made with a neckline similar to the one on your dress, and the strap on this dress is so slim that it might give a somewhat strapless-like illusion (without the instability).

I LOVE the dress. I think it's unique, but still has an elegant aesthetic. If that's what drew you to the idea of a traditional strapless dress, this dress fulfills that criteria.

I agree with previous posts.  The rouching will not overpower you, and the dress is unique and beautiful.

well, my first reaction to the dress was - Gorgeous! :)  Like mrsbear said, the rouching will if anything help with your top.  I know it's really hard to imagine what it will really look like when it fits, but I am sure that once you get your alterations done so the dress is tailored for you, you will fall in love with it all over agian!

The dress is gorgeous. Although as a small-chested girl myself, I would feel a little awkward about not being able to fill out such a fancy bustline.

You can always get cups sewn in, and with a little fancy altering, that dress could look STUNNING once it fits properly.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll love it once it fits!!!!

I agree with the everyone else, the dress is beautiful.  Perhaps you can check around to other shops to see if they carry the sample dress in a smaller size, just to give you a better idea.  The rouching definitely will add volume to the top and honestly I think that considering the low cut of the dress, someone with a smaller chest would look much more tasteful than full on boobs!  Just have the cups sewn in & you can always slap on a pair of those chicken cutlet looking enhancers from Victoria Secret!
