Hi Bees! I am new around the hive and am planning a june ’14 wedding.. I was hoping to get your opinions as I am seriously stuck between two dresses and would be seriously THRILLED to wear either gown on the big day!
I am a short but curvy bride (34DD, 130 lbs, 5’2”). Both gowns are from the modern vintage line at alfred angelo.
On to the gowns, shall we?
Option 1 Alfred Angelo 8501:
I love the pearl/beading on this one, the angles of the lace, and softness/scalloped details of this one. I am concerned the lace is too delicate/may not pop enough.
Option 2 Alfred Angelo 8516:
The first gown I put on at AA, which I adore, I love the floral lace. It looks so romantic and soft and my face when I came out lit up.. However, there are things I would want to change (only rhinestones on one side of the top and would want to remove).
If you know of any like these I would love your opinions! Sorry the pics are so large.

It is always hard for me to vote on dress topics when I don’t have pictures of you in said dresses. We all know it can look very different from the model. Telling you which dress I prefer based on these promotional pictures will not help you decide which suits you best. And how many times have I disliked something from a picture, but loved it when I saw it on someone IRL. So yeah, sorry my answer doesn’t help you, but both dresses look gorgeous and I believe it’s all about how good you feel in your dress and what you pictured yourself wearing for your wedding day. If you’re not sure, keep looking. Don’t buy when you hesitate. 🙂

@NauticalDisaster: Good point, I will search for some photos and try to update. Thank you!

I’m worried about the top of the first dress on someone with your bust size. But I like the second dress better regardless.

There’s no way I could say unless there were pictures of you in the dresses.

Edited to include photographs. I should also note these dresses were clipped and that I would fall around a size 6. I am normally a 6petite in clothes and an 8 in tops. They said cups could be sewn in… however in order to get the support I need I am looking to get a high quality bodysuit that is backless or have a custom one made for me.

There you go !
See ! I didn’t like dress 2 as much from the model pictures, but gosh, this is gorgeous on you ! What a nice cleavage and figure it gives you ! From the description you wrote, you seem to like it better than dress 1 too. My vote goes to dress 2 without hesitation !

@NauticalDisaster: Thank you! I completely agree, you never know what a dress looks like until it’s on you. I appreciate it 🙂

Based on the pictures, dress 2 looks much better on you, but it could just be the pictures, the angles etc. Also, i don’t really like cap sleeves, I think they make everyone’s arms appear bigger and it looks like #1 has cap sleeves and #2 doesn’t. In person which looked better?

@loveduck: I voted for Dress #2, but they both are lovely!! I think the lace on #2 shows up quite well. I love the detailing!! And hello to a weekend twin!!!

8516 hands down.
it has a more timeless look that think you will be happy with years down the road when you look back at your pictures

Whichever you choose looks great on you. But I love the flowery lace on the neckline of 8516. So beautiful!

I say dress 2, I love the hem!

8516 for sure! You look great in it.

I’m in the minority, but I actually like Dress #1 better. I like the more open back and I think Dress 2 might be a little too much cleavage (at least it would be for me)
