So we have decided to get married in April. I was curious what the absolute last week would be that I can order my dress — I know what the magazines say – 4 to 6 months. But is this really true? And do different designers have different policies? And are there better bridal boutiques to order from, to get the dress in faster? (I live in the DFW area.)

I think it totally depends on the designer and boutique. My boutique recommended 9 months, but only because it depends on the designer. If domestic, you could get it quick. If international, it could take a while. With mine, they told me 4-5 mos. I ordered mine at the end of January and it came in at the end of May. I think that is pretty typical for a domestic designer.

I think it depends on the designer. I’m also getting married in April, and have had issues coordinating with my sister when she could come to Houston to look at dresses with me. So I called and asked if ordering the weekend of October 10 would be soon enough for April and they said yes, since it would most likely come in late January/February and I’d still have time for alterations. Now that’s for Priscilla of Boston and Pronovias. But I’d definitely call and ask!
