I'm pretty sure I found 'the' dress.  The store I tried it on wants $1200 for it (plus tax, alterations, etc.).  It's a Casablanca dress and I'm seeing it on various websites for $831.00 (and others much less!)

Am I missing something totally obvious by ordering it online?  Should I just pay the extra $$$ and go through the store?

EDIT:  Also - if you've ordered your dress online - what site did you use??

bluefly, ebay. Pro for buying online: no dealing with the ladies at the bridal shop.

Do you need any other convincing? Going into stores for the dress was one of my few wedding regrets.

Congrats on finding the dress! get it cheapest and easiest... online.... :)

I ordered my dress from Netbride.  They had the best price and were great to work with.  I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with them.

I got mine online for a savings of almost 1000. No regrets here :) Just make sure it's legit and has a payment process that's secure, and go for it!

ETSY!!!  You can always use the Alchemy section of Etsy.com, post a photo of your DREAM DRESS and ask someone to make it for a certain price point. The sellers on the site will make you an offer and will tell you "I can make this dress for this much." When you're happy with the bid, you can accept.

I would actually be wary of having a replica dress made on Etsy because I would want to get EXACTLY what I tried on and little details sometimes make a big difference. But in your situation if you've already tried on the Casablanca dress and can get it for cheaper thru an online retailer, definitely go for it! I don't see any cons.

I'm not looking for a replica dress - would like the 'real' thing.  I can't tell from these online retailers which ones are legit and ones that are not.... any tips?

I've been looking at the WeddingShoppe online.  Their prices seem good, I have an idea of what I want, but it is just scary to order such a big, important thing online!  OOOOOOHHHHHH!

The other thing that's scary - is most sites I'm looking at have a no return policy - ack!

    I believe all of these are legit: houseofbrides.com, weddingshoppeinc.com, jaysbridal.com, netbride.com

I would look for something like "authorized retailer" on the website. Also if the price is significantly lower than any other place for the same dress, chances are it's a replica made in China.

The return policy is the same for a physical store (no returns unless they ordered the wrong dress!) so you're not losing any value there.

I'm all for it. Shopping is like a sport to me. Finding the best deal is such a good high! I say do it! Just make sure you know the return/exchange policies.

Definitely go with a site that other people have ordered through.  The ones from China can be sketchy!  Do not use Peridress or Perimart or lightinthebox.

i ordered my first dress on smartbride.net then sold it on here and got my second dress on ebay.

i however know quite a few people who ordered from sites online like wholesale and stuff and have had great experiences. lightinthebox.com is a really good site.

but i mean, give it a try! its scary but you never know unless you do it!
