Hi bees, tomorrow is 4 months till the wedding and I’m freaking out about my dress. I had a fitting Friday (pics below) and now I’m afraid my dress just isn’t the right shape for me or just doesn’t look good. You can tell from the pictures that I am getting an illusion neckline added but it’s not done yet. I don’t know, I can’t put into words why I am worrying about it and it makes me think that I am just being picky. Maybe it’s that I’m worried it gives me no shape?
We are getting married at my grandfather’s house with about 100 people in attendence. The wedding will be in Alabama and it’s kind of a vintage-y vibe I guess.
Is this the dress for me and I’m just worrying about nothing? Do I need to find a different dress? Should I change something?

Also, maybe is the color not right for me? The fluorescent lighting doesn’t really help but here is the dress in different lighting:

misskshoe: That dress is gorgeous. I love that it is different, vintage, classic and stunning. The ‘issue’ I am seeing is that the color is washing you out. I am not sure if I would get a whole new dress because of that fact, or if maybe you utilize strong make-up techniques, or maybe a spray tan to change that effect. Also, pull the belt tighter. This dress is not defining any one area, but certainly can be ‘taken in’ via the belt or alterations at the waist to give further enhance your gorgeous features!!

I hate to say it, but honestly, I think you are very pretty and you could do a lot better than this dress. The color doesn’t look right, you have a nice shape and the dress does nothing for it (the placement of the ruffles/tiers seems off, like the top one is too high up), and overall, it just doesn’t seem special enough for your wedding dress.

I think it’s gorgeous and I love the color. Personally though, I don’t like the belt. It seems a little too modern for the vintage dress. I’d go with a ribbon belt that matches your dress color and maybe has some lace accent to it. But that’s just me. I don’t think it makes you look shapeless at all. You look very tall and lean.

It’s gorgeous; the only issue I’m having is with the illusion neckline. I’m not really understanding it’s purpose. It looks weird from the back. I think you should have spaghetti straps made instead.

Hmm, I hate to say it but I am also not loving the illusion back. I think it makes it look unfinished (maybe because it is?) but I think it would look much more elegant with a different strap. I also feel like the illusion fabric isn’t really matching up with the fabric of the dress too well. Again, the only solution I can think of would be to change the straps. I hope this helps, sorry :/

What a beautiful dress! I think it looks lovely and is definitely special enough for a wedding- not everyone wants to wear a ballgown or something with a ton of beads/sparkle.
I will agree that the weird illusion neckline/back looks really weird. I would get that taken off and maybe add some straps if you want- either plain or with some rhinestones like the belt?

misskshoe: If the color is more like the ad, it will be lovely on you. Under the fluorescent lighting it is washing you out so if your venue has the same lighting you will want to make sure your makeup is adjusted for that.
The belt seems to be cutting you in half. The dress in the ad has a longer leaner look and the model is not wearing such a noticeable belt.

It seems like it needs to be brought up half an inch or so in front to hit you in the right spots re waist and breasts. I love the belt and the color, and with the right make up and hair it will pop.

Yea, I’m sorry but you have a beautiful body shape and this dress isn’t admiring it. The color is very dull and does not compliment your skin tone at all. Maybe its just me but I can just tell by the way you are standing that you dont look happy in it. And I can’t even see your face. Just my honest opinion.

sjhanddab2014: I agree.
I don’t think the dress looks good. The proportions are off. It doesn’t make your shape look awful, but it doesn’t do it any favors. The illusion neckline doesn’t add anything to the dress. The color doesn’t work, either; it’s kind of drab and muddy.
Your idea is great, but this dress isn’t. I think you can find a much better dress.

misskshoe: the dress is gorgeous, the only thing I dont like is the see through mesh like top, that dress looks like it should have straps and not the mesh thing. But it looks lovely on you and the colour is gorgeous.

agree with pps. Belt is wrong- u need something vintage and gold toned.
