Hi bees. 🙂 I think I’ve pretty much known since soon after buying my dress last summer that I would end up here.. I hoped I could find a way to love my dress, but it just didn’t happen. Each time I’ve tried it on my feelings about it have actually gotten worse. I put it on last week and realized I realy didn’t feel good in it anymore. It was just too fitted for me and I felt uncomfortable. All I could focus on was that I felt like my extra weight that I haven’t lost since having my daughter, mostly in my stomach area, was showing too much. I wanted an A-line or ballgown sillhouette and knew I’d feel more confident if I went with one instead.
So I went out with my bridesmaids today (in the midst of HORRIBLE weather in upstate New York, might I add – was seriously questioning my decision while driving, but we had an appointment!) to an Allure trunk show in hopes of trying on some of their spring ’14 dresses, especially the 9100:
They didn’t have the 9100, sadly, but after trying on a few dresses the consultant pulled for me and not really loving anything, I started looking over the dresses myself. I found Maggie Sottero’s Adrien and thought it might either help me decide to order the 9100 or that it might be the one…
Well, I loved it. I debated ordering the 9100 because they are so similar and I truly love the 9100 for its color and all the sparkle on the bodice, but being that this is my second dress, I couldn’t pass up the deal I got on the Adrien. It was $700 less than the 9100 would have been, I could actually see how it looked on (and felt great in it), and it doesn’t need a lot of alterations.
So, here’s my dress! I wish I had better pictures, but these iPhone shots will have to do. 🙂
I love it! I feel so much more like a bride in this ballgown, and I feel more confident because it hits me in a better place at my waist than my previous dress does. I also LOVE the long veil with this dress, while I was planning to wear a fingertip veil with the other dress. I didn’t buy this veil today because it was a bit pricy, and I think I want one with a lace edge to complement my dress.
So, what do you think? Quite the improvement, right? My original dress:
I’d love to hear your opinions! 🙂
