Dress shopping!

posted 3 months ago in Beehive

The time has come! Next month will put the wedding countdown to 8 months, and that's when I agreed to start actually shopping for my wedding dress!

I've been looking online for months, and have HUNDREDS of ides for what I want, but I wanted to pace myself on this. And the time is now!

How long before your wedding did you actually purchase your dress?

13 Months. Probably because I started looking three weeks after I got engaged and found the dress on the second trip. I guess I was also afraid because I heard rumors that at some places it took up to a year to ship, so I was having angst. But I ordered it at the end of July and it came in October and I'm getting married in 8 days!

Good luck and enjoy yourself! :)

I bought mine 6 months before my wedding. I heard 6 months is plenty of time for the dress to come in, but I started looking for my dress about 7 to 8 months before my wedding. Took me aobutg 2 months to find a dress that I loved...very tiring~

Have fun!  The first time is always soooo exciting and fun! =)

Some vendors take 6-8 months to ship (example: Jim Hjelm, Anne Barge).  They recommend you leave 2 months cushion for all fittings.  But you are not too late, but I wouldn't wait much longer to get out there and have fun!  (I'm 10 months out and shopping)

I found an Anne Barge sample.  First dress I tried on...tried on 2 more and walked out w/ the Anne Barge...I am getting married in a year!

I started shopping this week, with 11 months left and was told that I have enough time to look around some more... but I think I might have found my dress.

All the dress stuff takes longer than you think, so its good to be proactive on it.

I purchased my first dress 5 months before my wedding from Wai-Ching, and my second dress for the church ceremony 1 month before from a bridal shop.

I bought mine last monday and I have less than three months left. I didn't know about ordering times and whatnot until too late. Luckily, the manufacturer had a gown in a size close to mine in stock and it will be here next week. I think 8 months is a great time to start.

I put down my deposit and ordered my dress 9 months before my wedding, but I knew which one I wanted within weeks of getting engaged. To me, dress shopping was one of the most fun parts of getting married, so that was one of the first things on my list.
