I went with just my mom for the first couple of shops, when we were just browsing and home for the holidays.  I did most of my shopping with FI, then we went home again and I invited my MIL (who is also awesome!) to go with mom and FI and I.  I’ve done a little dress shopping with other friends who are also getting married, but ultimately I decided to buy a dress that I had seen with mom, FMIL, and FI.

I went with my mom, my maid of honor, and my daughter. I would have asked my fmil and my other bridesmaid, but fmil works on the weekends and my bridesmaid lives out of state. I went primarily to get an idea of how different styles looked on me. I didn’t fall in love with anything and ultimately ordered online.

Just me and my fiance (DH now). He picked out the dress that we bought in the end.

Only my mom. For me, less people = less opinions and less time consuming

The first time: Mom and MIL. FI and an only child, so I felt she should be invited. Plus, she’s the best.

Second time: Mom and Dad. Dad wasn’t thrilled to be there at first, but enjoyed himself well enough.

Third time: The one bridesmaid who lives nearby.

Fourth, and final, time: Mom only.

@AllyV0621:  No one in the end.  The first time I went was on a whim and my mom was with me.  When I finally bought my dress I went by myself.  I loved being able to make up my mind by myself (esp. since my family and friends are very loudly opinionated).

It sounds like you have an awesome group wto go with you.  Happy hunting!

Mom and FMIL. I kinda wish I would have had someone younger with me, but my bridesmaids live in another state.

@AllyV0621:   My mom went to all the stores with me, for the same reason as you – I trust her completely to know what looks good on me.  To my first visit I also took my FSIL as she was visiting at the time and wanted to go dress shopping.  She has a very positive outlook and her kind words were much appreciated as I looked at my overweight self packed into thick white dresses.   Second store – just me and mom.  Third store – me, my mom and a different FSIL.  She loved everything  LOL.   Final store, me and my mom.

I’d suggest staying with your mom and FMIL.   If you feel you need more eyes on your choices you can always make more appointments.   I truly think fewer, GOOD advisors are better than more…..  Best of luck with your dress shopping!!

The first time was just me and my bridesmaids.. When I actually found MY dress I went by myself. I knew what I wanted and didn’t want to be swayed by anyone else’s opinions.

I’m going on Friday and I’ll be taking my FMIL, my fiance’s niece and sister and my aunt.  I think that will give me some balance in opinions.  At the end of the day, I’m going to make my own decision, but I like to get opinions.

My mom, grandma and aunt. I knew they’d all be supportive and it was perfect.

@AllyV0621:  I chose to go by myself shopping because it was hard to get everyone to go with so many work schedules, plus I didn’t want alot of opinions. It was easier to just go by myself, pick something I liked and just show everyone the pictures. The first dress I loved but when I got an e-mail from a shop saying “we stopped carrying the line because of the cheap fabric and expensive price tag” I decided to change my mind. I ended up going saturday and fell in love with my new dress. I will be ordering Julietta by Mori Lee #3133….pcitures will eventually be posted when I take someone with me to get a better picture as the owner was in the store and the consultant said it wasn’t a good idea to take pics while she was there. Hope to go in again and get a better picture before I order it!!

I went by myself and didn’t get anyones opinion because I knew the dress was perfect for me straight away. Thought I got mine second hand locally so I didn’t really do the whole ‘dress shopping’ thing.
