Hi All. I have an appointment at Kleinfeld’s in January, but was just wondering if there are other places in the city that I should check out for wedding dresses? Let me just also say that I am a “plus-size” I guess you would say. I hate that term, but I would need sample sizes bigger than the usual sample size (which I’ve heard is a 10 or so, depending on the place). I guess I am a 16/18 street clothes if that helps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Do the running of the brides- and find a place that sells maggie sottero. her dresses flaunt curves and a corset back beans almost no alterations!

RK Bridal is good for a cheaper place with a variety of styles.

I’m a street size 14 and I had a fabulous time at Kleinfelds! I ended up buying my gown from them. (Lets ignore the fact that I had to buy a bridal size 22 to fit my measurements.
I also had a really good time at RK Bridal, since I could fit into most of their samples. They are not your typical bridal salon though, more like a warehouse, but the prices are amazing, so it’s totally worth it to go. You can experience the whole “bridal salon” experience at Kleinfelds anyways.

Definitely try Bridal Garden (more like RK bridal, but proceeds go to charity). I also loved Designer’s Loft – much smaller space but they were very nice and let me take pictrues. Just an FYI – if you’re going to RK or Bridal Garden take friends! They’re not as “full service” as some other salons so you’ll probably appreciate help getting into the dresses and pulling samples.

The White Gown in Brooklyn. Thats where I tried on my dream dress. Its a really small boutique but its super cute and they have a variety of dresses in bigger sample sizes to try. 🙂

My NCY advice is to go during the week and not on the weekend. Even at RK Bridal you get a lot of personalized service.
