What do I need to know/bring?
I have pictures from magazines and the internet. Only my mom and sister are coming with me.
I probably won’t order my dress until April – I’ve been steadily losing weight for the past few months and don’t want alterations to be a nightmare. I will see what the shops say though, if I find “the one”.
Anyone have any tips for a first time shopper? I have appointments at 3 salons.

First and foremost, have FUN! I found trying on dresses to be such a fun experience!! Also, I found the tip of actually styling your hair and wearing makeup to be spot on. It’s much easier to know if a dress is a contender to be “the dress” if you look nice and aren’t focusing on how you wish you’d put on lipstick!
Don’t be afraid to tell the bridal consultant what you like and don’t like – and don’t feel like you have to show every dress you try on to your mom and sister. I put on a few that I looked in the dressing room mirror, said, “no way!” and the consultant quickly got me out of that dress and into another.
I think you’re already setting yourself up for dress success by only bringing two people with you!! You know what you like, and you want them to like it to – bringing more people or an entourage like on Say Yes to the Dress almost always seems to end in disaster. Go and have FUN! (and come back and tell us all about the experience!)

Definitely bring a strapless bra, wear modest underwear, heels (if your short and wanna wear them), and some bottled water.
Have a great time and be open minded! Dont judge a dress on the hanger!

I’m going next weekend as well, its my birthday so we will have extra fun. I’m hoping and wishing I can find one on the rack. My wedding is in 4 months and I’m afraid if I have to order one it will not be here and altered on time. Good luck in your search!

@MissNachoLover: Well the advice I was gonna give you are already doing : limit the number of people going with you.
Try not limit the style of dress you want. I tried on a few different shapes just to make sure I wasn’t keeping myself away from something I thought wouldn’t look good on me.
Also stay positive and have fun! Do not get discouraged and try not to try on a million dresses. When you do, you start doubting all the dresses! GOOD LUCK!!

Everyone has such good advice already! I agree with the pp that you should do your hair and makeup, you’ll feel a lot better looking all dolled up. And make sure you wear the correct undergarments! I would recommend a strapless bra and spanx!
