- Wedding: July 2011
My Mom and I have a day booked off in November to dress shop.
I do some travelling for work, and between my appointments today I had an hour to kill, I knew of a wedding store and had hoped to visit there in November, but thought since I was in the area with time to kill I could go be nosey.
On the door it noted “Appointments Preferred” so I was like oh crap, breaking rule #1!
I walked in to two smiling faces this morning, explained I hadn’t dress shopped aside from nosing around online and saving a few favourites, she walked me through the store, even showing Mom gowns, Bridesmaid gowns and explaining the whole “process”. She said if I wanted I could pick a few dresses if I had time and try some on. Awkwardly I agreed. I am not a very girly girl and as much as I’m excited, still find the idea of being a bride quite intimidating! I am loving planning, but this is huge!!!!
I picked 3 dresses, and loved them all, I feel like I’m fairly laid back and will love just about anything, but once #2 and #3 went on I began to see pros and cons, things I liked and didn’t and really really loved #1 even more. We even joked before putting a second on with how much I loved #1 “imagine this was the dress”. #1 is a sample currently at 50% off -and I cannot find it online, just like she said I wouldn’t. Heavy satin, but just beatiful.
I explained my venue, no A/C, summer wedding, and for how hot my legs were, she pulled dress #4 which was similar, but taffetta, and much, much lighter -and just as lovely!
Oddly enough I came home and had this one saved in my favourites too, too funny, meant to be? It’s $790 at the store, but I already googled it and saw it less, locally, how does bargaining work in the bridal world -or do I just go elsewhere?
Dress #1 I seriously can’t find……
Madison Collection (Richman Group?) apparently part of/related too Mori Lee? ON5224X, for $445 (that’s 50% off right now) I would be buying the exact dress I tried on as apparently it’s fairly unique and I won’t likely find it anywhere else.
Going on Monday with Mom to the store, then will see if between now and then it’s appropriate I shop around to find it for less elsewhere?
So perhaps the day off in November will be for Mom, and let the pursuit of her dress have a day dedicated too it….she definitely deserves it!
