Honestly, you’re probably better off without having any pre-conceived notions of what type of dress you want. You’ll be more open to silhouettes that you may have written off, but which may be perfect for you. Let your consultant guide you – she has seen countless brides of every shape and size, and if she’s any good, she’ll know what to put you in. From there, it’s just preference on materials and extras – lace, beading, etc. You’ll have a blast! Good luck!

If you get a good stylist, they will be very excited about getting to ‘try stuff on’ you. If you get a bad one, they will huff and puff in a corner and check their phone, figuring you aren’t going to actually make a decision. My sister had no clue and got  both of the above. Luckily the first place she went had someone who helped her try on pretty much every dress in the store (she did end up going back and buying something ifrom them). The second lady was obnoxious and we left pretty soon and her prophesy came true!

So, don’t let the sales lady rattle you and have fun! 5 months is enough time for most dresses, so check ’em all out!

@orchidaloha:  How exciting! I went for my first time last Thursday and felt exactly the same way. Which salons are you going to?

I actually found it helpful to give the consultant examples of things I definately DID NOT want (ie. ruffles, crazy bling, empire waist, that kind of thing). The girl at Cameo and Cufflinks was especially helpful. Her name was Toni and she only works Tuesdays and Thursdays so you might even see her today. The service there was great…I am going back on Satruday to buy my dress.

Good luck! Relax and try to have fun! Also please show us pics after!!

1- BREATHE!!!

2- Grab everything. No joke. My sister and I both grabbed dresses…just for fun, because it was our first appts. The ones that we just grabbed to have fun with were the ones we ended up choosing. No. Joke. I thought mine looked like a cupcake on the rack, but when I put it on magic happened. She thought hers looked like something out of the Victorian era…which it kinda does…but on her, just looks absolutely fantastic. Try on the dress you think looks ridiculous. If it still does, laugh and move on. But there’s a CHANCE it will be the ONE
