YAAAAY Good luck! My advice would be do not rush in to anything; sometimes those sales ladies can be pushy or persuasive! You'll know when you find the one!
another bee gave me this advice - which I was so thankful for ... which was: do your hair and makeup!
Other than that - try stuff on you hate hanging (you NEVER know) - and try on lots of different silhouettes so you start to figure out what you are most drawn to.
HAVE FUN!!
Oh - and take a strapless bra with you. The first couple shops I went to had one and I thought that was the norm. But then for a few others - I had to be helped into the dress sans bra.... a bit awkward!
Have no boundaries - try everything and anything on unless there is something you aboslutely do not want. Dresses may look fugly on the hanger then once on they're completely transitioned into beautiful yumminess. (wear comfy underwear, lol)
I am really short so I tried everything on except mermaid gowns, those were not gonna help my height, LOL
Good Luck and HAVE FUN - YAY I am so excited for you
Thanks for all of the support - I'm feeling really excited now! And good call on doing my hair and make up, I never like anything I try on when I'm not looking my best.
@hilsy I'm going to the new J Crew Bridal Salon. I'm such a J Crew fan (seriously more than half of my clothes are from there) so I thought it would be a good place to start.
Most bridal shops have shoes so you may not need heels unless you've found some that you absolutely adore!
I totally agree to try anything and everything on! I ended up getting a dress i never even thought would ever look good and me and i dont regret my decision. have fun, relax and try not to feel overwhelmed. go with positive people and people that you trust to give you honest opinions and positive feed back!!
Have fun!

I'm going dress shopping for the first time tomorrow - I can't wait!
What are other September 2011 brides up to? Who has their dresses already? Any advice for a first time shopper?
