honestly I would be worried he would sway you from a dress you really like. ESPECIALLY since he said that bit about knowing wht style your body look best in. Also if you want the dress to be a surprise… then make it a surprise!!!! BUT if you feel comfortable going with him then do it! dont’ be held up by tradition.

Oy….I’m sure the opinions you get here will be more like ‘oh hell no!’.  My fiance wanted to do the same thing since I was having a hard time finding a dress, ‘we’ll go together, we’ll totally find something’ was his exact phrase.  The poor guy just doesn’t understand the surprise element that is pounded in our brains by the wedding complex.  I am 50/50.  Like, I am about thisclose to just having him go with me (I now have two dresses and don’t 100% like either) because he’s right, he knows what looks good on me, way more than my friends and family.

Basically, I am here to piggyback on your thread.  lol

My fiancé went with me. He’s the person who I feel most comfortable with, and hos opinion is really valuable to me, so leaving him behind is kind of silly.

@fishbone:  Sweet…do you love what you got?  Was it just the two of you?

I love what I got, and yup, just the two of us. But I don’t usually do the “drag the entourage to the mall” thing for everyday clothes, either.

I ended up with an Allure A-line, waiting for it to come in!

And what will happen if he hates every dress you love? I’d never give mine the option, as he’s the kind that always says ‘I’d have to see it ON first’, and even then, I’m not sure how truly honest he is. Mine has kept things inside for years, and only way later would he say how much he was glad to see something go….like why did he lie in the first place and say he liked it? So frustrating, and weve been married a LONG time.

The only ones I’d take with me for dress shopping would be those who would be brutally honest about my dress and how it looked. If that’s him and you have no problem with it, go for it.

Just kidding.  If you want him there, bring him.  If you don’t, don’t.  There are no rules on this one.  🙂

@Hopeful3120:  Hmmm, what about a hybrid?  You can go with your girls and take lots of pics and he can choose a couple that he likes and get the ultimate vote?

My husband was so torn on this one! I know he really wanted to adhere to tradition of not seeing the bride in her dress, but he was DYING to go with me! He didn’t end up going, cuz he wanted to be surprised. Plus, he wanted to know if I could come up with something that he loved! 😀

@Hopeful3120:  Awwwwwww, he sounds awesome.  Tell him to get in the kitchen and make you breakfast.  😉
