Strapless bra, full coverage underwear and heels about the height of what you think you will wear.

They can provide heels. Wear a strapless bra and nude color full coverage undies. I also recommend contacts if you usually wear glasses as there is a lot of pulling things over the head and also hair in a tight bun or similar for the same reason…

Bring bottled water, too; you will get so hot getting in and out of all those heavy dresses.

Also, some photos of dresses you like or have in mind will help the attendant help you find something you like.

Like PP have said, corset/bra, modest underwear. I would also bring pictures of dresses you like, camera, and something to take notes. I was so overwhelmed my first visit that it was a blur later, but MOH kept notes on which dresses I tried and my likes and dislikes.

Definitely worth investing in a pair of “sucky inny” shapewear, no matter how big or small you are!  Just to smooth things over and it actually made it easier to pull on the dresses.  I didn’t wear a bra for any of my dress shopping, the dresses were boned so it wasn’t necessary.  Or maybe that was just because the first couple of places I went to were like that and I just decided to keep stripping off! lol.  Hmmmm, i wonder now 😛  But definitely the place where I’m getting my gown from said no bra necessary for the wedding (which is such a relief).

I’d also suggest light makeup and your hair in a style which mirrors what you’re looking at for your wedding day.  Everything I read said that it will help you feel better in the dresses 🙂

@goingtotherooftopoflove:  I agree, makeup made me feel so much better about myself in the dresses. Wish I had done something with my hair, but it kept getting messed up anyway, pulling dresses on and off

I didn’t wear makeup for most of my appointments and several sales attendants thanked me – seems like makeup is the #1 ruiner of dress samples!  But agree with PPs on the strapless bras and full-coverage undies.  Not sure nude color is important, though – I appreciated being able to tell which dresses were going to require a slip!
