Hi all. Previously I’d posted that I was buying the following to wear under my dress:
Well, I bought it. It was on sale for $22 plus shipping and is normally $42 so I was excited. I heard it ran large so I bought a size down. I normally wear a 38C or 40D in bras. Most of my bras are 38/40 D but my strapless tend to need to be smaller so I went with a 38C for this purchase.
It came today and it doesn’t fit right. First of all I didn’t realize that it only has one row of hook & eyes in front (under the zipper)… so it’s not adjustable at all. Bummer. It fit, as in comfortably and all, but it’s a bit too big to give me any real “control” or waist slenderizing effect. The top was a little loose and it just didn’t “hold me in” like I expected, however, the cups were too small! Too Much Information but my boobs were hanging out under the underwire a bit. Arrrgh!
So I called the company and they said maybe I could go down to a 34 or 36 D, but not to expect too much “cinching” and so I started thinking maybe a corset instead.
I do not want to spend a lot of money, honestly, I will wear this the day of the wedding and a few times outside of that so I am not super concerned about a “real” corset and all that stuff. So this same company (Orchard Corset) has a corset for sale right now on clearance for only $2 more than I paid for this, and I was considering it but I have NO freaking idea how to buy the right size??!! I don’t think I can simply go by the bra size here.. or can I? I NEED the cups to fit right obviously, and then I need it to cinch pretty small if I want it to or be relaxed some as well.
I tried calling the company back but they were closed. I am asking for any help here in figuring out the ideal size for what I want: something to support the girls and something to slightly take in the waist. I am hoping that since it’s a corset I can adjust if I am not comfy, so I want to order small enough to be able to cinch some but not some Scarlett O’Hara can’t breathe BS. I am a bigger woman but with an hourglass figure and I like to accentuate that every chance I get. One of the things I loved about my dress when I tried it on is that it made my waist look tiny! That was with a David’s Bridal longline bra; I want something I can control a bit more.
Please take a look and tell me what you think about how to best choose a size; this one is different in that it’s a final clearance so if I don’t get it right I can’t send it back. 🙁 I’ve talked about this one here before and now I’m considering it again: it hooks and zips in front then laces up the back, has detachable straps and garters that detach also. And it’s cheap. Here’s the link with the size info.
