So the last time I posted I was trying to decide on my dress between two. I went for the opposite dress that most of the Bees said they preferred. And I’ve been wobbling ever since.
I now know that the other dress wasn’t for me. But my eye has been wandering at other dresses – and I’ve found myself drawn to dresses I dismissed before – I seem to be drawn to simple, silk dresses – when I first started out I was all about the lace & tulle, and it’s been changing ever since.
Below is the dress I went for – I’m planning to replace the bow on the side with a flower, or something different, and have the neckline made straight.
But I’ve fallen in love with Justin Alexander 8502. Pic:
It’s too late to order it, our wedding is in July, but I’m wondering whether to go and try it on somewhere and see if they’d be prepared to sell me their sample – if I loved it of course. Do you think it’s worth going to try it on or should I just leave it and go with my dress? And which dress do you prefer?
I hate wobbling 🙁 Wish I just had that “this is the one” feeling that everyone else seems to have!
Thanks in advance for your pearls of wisdom!

Not everyone has the “it’s the one” feeling. Most people have the “it’s beautiful” feeling. People have asked about this a lot and every time there are a bunch of bees who say that they never had tears, or an overwhelming sense of “oneness.” My appointment was done in 30 minutes and all I had was a “this is awesome, where do I swipe my card” feeling. Don’t base your decision on whether or not your dress elicited an emotional response.
Your dress is beautiful and you need to stop looking. 🙂 You’ll only torture yourself.

@claireos: Yea, and I did have that. I guess it’s been so long since I last tried it on (first weekend of January), I’ve kind of forgotten how I felt in it. I did order it though because it was getting to that point where I *had* to order it… and I think that’s what’s bothering me most. But then that’s me… I’m the worst person at making decisions, as is evident here!

I really like the front of your current dress, but do not like the back- it seems unflattering.
I love the second dress, I think its low back would look divine, it might be worth a try 🙂 The only thing is that if you fall in love and they won’t sell the sample that would be horrible for you…

@MrsOliveBird: That dress was a bit small for me which is probably why the back looks a little unflattering. Hoping I’ll have lost a bit of weight and my dress will fit me better when it comes in in a few weeks. I had it custom made for my bust waist and hips as I’m a bit of an odd shape!
I’m with you though that it might be worth trying on. And if they won’t sell me their sample, I’m sure I can find a shop that will…. I can’t find it anywhere on any second hand dress sites here in the UK.

Ok. The second dress is beautiful, but think of all possible outcomes. For example, are you prepared to try it on, love it, and find out that you cannot buy the sample? What then, would you break the bank and buy another new dress? Would you decline consent to live knowing that the dress you will wear is not as beautiful as this new one? Neither of these options seem good to me so I say DON’T try it on unless you are prepared to buy it. Have your current dress altered and perhaps you’ll change your mind about it….and stop looking at dresses! lol 🙂

Stick with the one you have, you look amazing in it!

Your dress is gorgeous. And while the other one is pretty too, I think yours is more distinctive. You’re rocking the one you’ve got — stop looking.

Awww thank you guys, you’re such a huge help at times of panic like this! xx

I agree that your current dress is gorgeous. It shares elements with the JA dress so I can see why you’re attracted to the JA dress.
I prefer your current dress but if you want it to look a bit more like the JA, you could switch to a sweetheart neckline?

Your current dress looks amazing on you BUT I said go try on the other to be sure. I’m speaking from experience. There was a dress I couldn’t get out of my head and the bees encouraged me it was okay to go try it on. Your wedding day is your day and you should be 100% happy and sure of your decision. I ultimately chose the new dress, it was more perfect than anything I could ever imagine.
