yikes! Id say just try watching what  you eat and work out an hour a day at least. sorry to hear this happened. hopefully once it is altered no major weight gain happens.

Avoid salt and soda as they will bloat you.  

Drink lots of water. At LEAST 2 liters a day.

eat bananas – the pottasium helps with water weight

 

no beer or other fizzy drinks!

try adding a weighted vest or belt when walking.  The more weight you carry the more calories you burn.

Do some light jogging with the walking.  Intervals are great for burning calories.

this worked for me  I’ve finally broken thru my plateau without having to add on more miles.

@naturalysam:  You may be taking too long strides – try smaller, fast steps or even jogging. I swear by pyramid workouts – you start out at a low intensity, step it up every minute until you’re at your max ability, then step it back down. Do that a couple times and your workout is done!
