- Wedding: September 2015 - Beach
Hi everyone –
I have a question for all of you short and busty girls (whom I’ve lovingly nicknamed ‘short stacks’. Get it, stacked? Haaaa…. *crickets*)
What type of dress did you go with for your big day? I’m 4’11”, DD bra size, and a size 14. Sometimes I feel like a cross between a hobbit and some sort of cave-dwelling gremlin. The thought of dress shopping gives me great anxiety as I feel like I won’t find something that will fit me or make me feel pretty. Also, heels higher than 2″ are out of the question to compensate for the lack of height.

Megbee617: 5’2″ DD Size 10-12 and I went with a strapless fit and flare gown, lots of people say Petites can’t pull off the fit and flare but I think they’re lying!! I like the style of traditional ball gowns but they didn’t look good on my waist.

Sooo I am 5’0″ but definitely NOT large chested, I’m actually the total opposite. But I wanted to throw in my two cents. I posted a pic of me in the sample of my dress. It’s from Alfred Angelo. The skirt starts too low on me, but I ordered “short dimensions,” which means the skirt will start three inches higher when I get my actual dress (something to ask about when you go shopping!). I was worried about dress shopping too, but trust me, there are so many different styles out there and you will quickly discover what shape looks best on you! Be sure to try one of everything to narrow down your choices (I ruled out A-line and ballgown quickly, and that made dress shopping much easier).

Megbee617: I am a shortie too, 5’0 C/D bra. Most of the dresses that I prefer were A-line dresses (dress I purchased was A-line). Tried on a couple of mermaids and fit n flares, but they made me look too wide in the hips for my liking. I actually tried on a few ballgowns and really liked them. The Pronovias Dornela looked amazing and did not make me look short at all. I think you just really need to go and have an open mind when trying on dresses.

Megbee617: 5” DDD here……..Hobbit or cave dwelling gremlin pretty much describes how I feel most days. I’m also not able to wear 6 inch heels.
I’m having a small vow renewal, so my dress doesn’t need to be super formal. I have my heart set on tea length. For us busty gals, I think its imprtant to have some volume in the skirt to balance us out. I know dropped waists also make me look shorter.
Some dresses I love:
