DHgate is just a portal of vendors.  Think of it like ebay.  Each seller is going to have a different experience.

If you want a dress made, I recommend Fabulous U.  Tony has been working with me to make bridesmaid dresses and a few accessories for my gown.  (I purchased a sample dress at a salon.)  I’ll let you know how everything turns out.

I have read a lot of negative reviews of DHGate. You might want to try asking Jasmine’s Bridal Shop if they can make the design. Right now they aren’t taking new orders because they are so busy with wedding season, but it looks like you have time to wait until they start accepting orders again. DressilyMe or Fabulous U also seem to have mostly positive reviews though Jasmine’s tends to be viewed as “the best” (but also more expensive)

I don’t have experience with a wedding dress – but I did buy a dress for my 21st birthday from a website called jenjenhouse.com – 99% sure it’s chinese. After telling me they didn’t have the colour I wanted (which was pink and blue mixed) and that mauve would be the closest match, I gave in and ordered mauve – guess what! It was EXACTLY the dress and colour I wanted. So, a little missed communication but the dress is amazing, and I found it to be of quite a significant quality.

not sure if that will work – but its absolutely beautiful!

I too am planning to order a dress from China from kissthedress.co.uk (only opened in January so not found any reviews). I’m willing to accept the risk that it won’t look exactly like the picture because it’s so cheap I can always buy another (and re-sell the old one on eBay) worst case scenario. Best case scenario.. I get my dream dress cheap!!

I had a terrible experience with Bridescome.com. I am trying to warn people away from the website if considering ordering a dress from China.  Poor workmanship, terrible quality material and they will not respond to your emails once they have your money. Even using Paypal does not protect you since the dress arrives after the cutoff 45 days to complain on Paypal.
