Dresses with horse hair???

What exactly is the horse hair for? I’ve seen dresses with horse hair online, but without seeing one in real life, I don’t get it.

I don’t have horsehair on my dress, but my sash is horsehair. I don’t have a picture of it yet because its being custom made, but I love the look and texture. Your dress is so pretty!’

Mine has it. To keep the ruffles folded in a particular way.

Haha I was thinking it was a bit inhumane to use horsehair… :-p is the horsehair part the sort of wide hem on the shorter part of the dress?  And its the stiffness that holds the curves of it? Your dress looks great, regardless 🙂

I heard my bridal salon refer to the under skirt part of my dress as horse hair so I guess mine has it too haha I had no idea. but here is mine! 🙂 

Its the non-silk organza skirt thats under the two layers of silk organza. (if anyone was wondering haha)

you got me freaked out when I read horses hair because I went to a shoe sale last year and purchased a pair of 350 dollar urban soul shoes for 40 Dollars. When I got them home the shoe said made with genuine pony leather!!! Needless to say I freaked out and returned them the next day! I was totally disgusted and wrote a letter to the shoe company! I’m not against leather in general (pig, cow) but to use a horse really upset me…..especially those shoes! they had like a textured leather that i thought was synthetic but it turned out it was the horses hair!

 

Sorry to threadjack but when you wrote horses hair I thought ‘oh no they are doing  it for dresses as well!’
