I’m a street size 16/18, and I wanted straps on my dress because I am very busty (36GG). What I actually discovered, however, was my boobs actually looked larger in a dress with straps and I felt very top heavy! I ended up going with a strapless dress with a corset, which makes me feel amazingly secure. I’d say keep an open mind. Here I am in straps, and in strapless.

@littlemisst08:  wow that is great advice I never thought of it that way! Your dress is stunning! I will definitely consider being slightly more open minded. Thanks!

The dress I bought just happened to have straps.  I like that they are detachable, so I can keep them on or un-hook them and tuck them in if I wanted a different look for the reception.  I ended up keeping them on anyway, but here is a pic of my dress with detachable straps:

I knew I wasn’t going strapless after a horrible prom experience where I narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction

The straps on my dress are one of my favorite features!

@Melchucki:  I definitely wanted straps when I first tried on dresses, but once I put on the first dress I felt secure and didn’t mind strapless. All of my insecurities were gone after that. Just give it a try before you decide.

I’m a size 12 (street and dress) and I wouldn’t even consider buying a strapless dress, even though I am smaller busted.

My dress isn’t due to come in until January or February but here’s a pic of when I bought it:

@LedeLady:  I love your dress! It’s very close to what I’m looking for. Can you give me the info on it?

@yj2cute:  It’s Allure Couture C182. Here’s a few other pics (sorry not amazing photo quality or me wearing the best undergarments haha) … I think the lace is just exquisite!

Completely agree OP, there are so many strapless dresses out there. I am determined not to go down the strapless line and to have straps or preferably sleeves. This is largely based on look but it will also assist with the cold (December wedding!)

I also don’t like the look of strapless, but fell in love with this dress that originally came strapless – ordered an extra yard of fabric and had a one-shoulder stap added and LOVED it πŸ™‚
