This past weekend my mom and I went to Hobby Lobby to look for fake flowers for centerpieces. My mom is allergic to flowers so I decided instead of real flowers I’d just do fake flowers. I bought a bunch of rustic looking foliage and then we headed for the moss section.
I found a bunch of dried baby’s breath and I got really excited because I wanted baby’s breath in my centerpieces but since it was a MUST HAVE I sort of forgot about it. So I bought 2 bunches of the dried stuff. I got home and took it out of the bag (since it was dried it was wrapped to prevent breaking, shedding etc in the store)….OMG it smells like cat urine. I had heard this before but since I’ve had fresh baby’s breath for things and it never smelled I ignored other people when they said it smelled.
So I took it outside to air out, hoping that would fix it somewhat…Nope 3 hours later and it still smelled like cat urine. I ended up throwing it away. A cute story about it though. My 9 year old daughter could smell it and says “OMG what is that?” I told her it was “Baby’s Breath” and she says “What baby’s breath smells like that? Their mom needs to brush their teeth!” HAHAHA
So learn from my mistake, if you want baby’s breath use FRESH baby’s breath and not dried. Unless Cat urine is the ambiance you want for your wedding.
