I am obsessed with drop waist...I find it the closest I can get to the ballgown pretty natural waist while actually giving me a SHAPE and not making me look massive.
I have big boobs, but im a size 4 with no hips or butt. Drop waist is perfect on me...trumpet/mermaid I find are too sexy or not puffy enough for my wedding. :)
Who's with me and LOVES drop waist? I am trying to find a really nice drop waist dress that is unique., beautiful and not over 2,500$. My favorite is Acacia by Rosa Clara - its over $5000. :( Help me find a dress!

I am also loving Prado right now -Pronovias (no idea how much it is lol)

While I do like them on the models, I think its a tough waist line to pull off in RL because it makes your torso look longer at the expense of the lower half of your body. I tried on a dropped waist ball gown and it made me look short and i'm 5ft 11..
I also love dropped waist ballgowns and since I am busty but with a long torso they hit me in a better place instead of making me look like I am expecting a happy event
Enzoani has some beauties . . .
Farlow
My runner up Blue by Enzoni Dabra

and my choice by Enzoani

I would look at Pronovias, White One and San Patrick as well as Aire Barcelona - so many beautiful dropped waist ballgowns in your price range
I would also suggest "La Sposa" in addition to the ones that @unixfairy mentioned. La Sposa will probably be on the lower end of that price range.
Allure does some pretty ones as well and are affordable . . .
Allure 8720

Allure Couture 183

Allure 8868

ohh and another designer La Sposa - I love Detalle

@MrsCarnival: LOL I was posting as you did :) I just love dropped waist ballgowns and have TONS of pictures
Jasmine and Jasmine Couture has some pretty ones
Moonlight Couture does too
Oh and Demetrios and Sophia Tolli
@unixfairy: WOW! Okay I tried on Farlow...way too busy for my taste...I was lost in it. But your choice is GORGEOUS! I am in love with Abilene by Maggie...when I tried it on I thought it perfect until I wore it a little longer and decided I need something puffier not A-Line. the gown you choice is VERY similar to Abiline but drop WAIST! You just made my day! It is officially on my list of gowns to try on. With the right belt it would look marvelous. you look so beautiful in it and so happy. I love it on you! SO romantic! I'm going to cry haha.
I will try to email you pictures of the abilene. It has a big bow at the back that is very pretty.
@Amanda_Rae: Amanda WOW! The lace at the bottom is really rare this year but so nice! I find it very hard to find a nice ballgown/drop waist gown without it being plan on the edges... and i really like the bling. Thank you so much I plan to try this one on too now!
Thank you all SO much for the responces! So many new ideas!! :D:D
Love being on this forum!!!
This was my almost dress:
Its Martina Liana and it would have come to about 2200 with alterations: Its more of a fit-and-flare than a drop waist, but I would check her line for similar looks within that price range.

and this is my THE dress :) Its a drop-waist, but because of the rouching and the flowy fabric with no hemline, the saleslady called it an "asymmetrical loose drop waist".
@unixfairy: Not able to send you pictures via private message...but here are pictures of the dress I was really happy in...makes me so greatful to you to show me the same one in drop waist. thank you thank you!!! (do you think the bow would look good on the back of your enzoani??

Holy crap. 8868 is gorgeous. Do you know about how much they are? We're having a second reception in Mr's hometown, and I've been on the lookout for an affordable tea-length dress - and that actually looks like it would be super easy and beautiful to alter to tea-length. The one I had in mind is the Justin Alexander tea-length tulle/embroidery dress, but its WAY too much for a second dress.
I'm not sure if this is considered a drop waist? But this is my gown...I had to take my own pictures because I guess my day turned into my moms day to find a dress for the wedding...UGH!
I'm a super curvy and short girl, I didn't think drop waist was good for me... then I tried on a Maggie.... YAY! Her name is Coco, and I don't know if she's the one, but I'm glad I kept an open mind to try her on!
@ashleyyyg: Hahahha That happened to me too!!! lool. Mom's are too funny. :)
Ha sorry I got off the post - yes my dress is pretty much like a simpler version of Farlow or a more elaborate version of Maggie but it is Enzoani and was especially made for Lord and Taylor even though La Soie said it is exclusive to them. I have tried on both gowns and they are identical lol
here are some more pictures - I looked through thousands of gowns and tried on over 100 and this one to me is very unique and had everything I wanted

BTW I tried it on with a belt and have a link to a bride that wore it with a belt - I preferred it without but it looks good either way
My dress was dropped waist!! And I LOVED the fit more then any other!! Can be uncomfortable to sit in tho LOL.

holy COW sorry the pics are so big!!!!
@unixfairy: I love La Sposa, but I'm probably biased since I bought one of their gowns:) It's not a drop waist, but all of their ball gowns are so beautiful...
@unixfairy: haha how are you finding all these pictures?! haha. love the belt! You're right it is beautiful either way...but I love bling so i might add a blinged out belt and matching strap...or do this look :

I just ordered the La Spose Detalle. It was under $2500 even with the sash and veil (different than pictured). I love it!

Yay for drop waist gowns. I totally agree that those were my favorite when trying on dresses. I still had a shape but had the dramatic volume at the bottom.
Here is me in my altered Darwin by Enzoani Blue

@Meowkers: Aw gorgeous! you were able to remove the bling without damage?? It's really nice!
The shape of my dress is also drop wait A-line - although there is no seam below the waist. It's not what I thought I wanted but I love it!
@KatyElle: and @bbutterfly: thank you!
@bbutterfly: yes. I ordered the dress to be without the beading, (as opposed to having a seamstress take it off later). They still sent me the beading separetely if I wanted to use it for something else. But it didn't leave even the tiniest pin mark.
I ordered two dresses (due to dress regret) and both were dropped waist! Here's the old one:

And my new one! Its a much more subtle dropped waist:

@eimajleigh: oooh your boobs sit in it NICELY! haha. ahh hate my boobs... theyre so big I look trashy when I try deep sweetheart necklines! hahaha.
I'm glad you got that new one it's so beautiful!
I have a similar body style to yours- big bust, no butt, no hips. I looked great in EVERY drop waist I tried on. My MIL pointed it out and after that, I only tried on dropped waist gowns. Saved me a lot of time. I went with this one, allure 8824:

Also- I am doing a sweetheart neckline alteration. I always dreamed of a sweetheart and kind of did it on a whim. Lately I've been second guessing it since I'm a big chested girl, but either way, I'll post pictures when I get the dress. Hopefully it will be helpful to big chested girls, whether it works out for me or not. lol.
@bbutterfly: Oh I'm so glad you said that!!! I've been worrying about my boobs in the dress! I've been seeing a lot of posts about "too much boobed brides" and I think "oh no! Is that me??" I have fairly smallish boobs! B cup and I'm braless in the pic. I bet you don't look trashy at all, though!!
here is one i tried on and loved! i love dropped waise but i ending up going with a trumpet.
@eimajleigh: hahah you are too friggin sweet! No no you dont have to worry about your dress AT ALL looks great! I was just going through your dress journey...haha. This dress def. does the most for u!
@TheLionQueen: First of all...GORGEOUSSS...the roses are so beautiful...Allure is great isnt it?? I was soo happy to see you decided to go with sweetheart! If you are big busted it actually helps it look a little smaller!!! TRUST ME! Just don't do a big V...women like us only the small sweetheart suits us! I think alternating that neckline will make the dress sooo much prettier! WELL DONE!
@MrsStrawberry24: Aw so pretty. I love the blinged out tops and puffy skirts. But you have HIPSS so I'm sure the trumpet looks stunning on you!
@Meowkers: You look SO amazing!! Are you petite? I always worry about trying poofy dresses or dropwaist because I am SO terrified of looking like the dress swallows me! But you look soooooo good!! =D
@bbutterfly: Thank you :) I do love Allure! All of my fave gowns were Allure. I'm actually a little scared it will be a deep cut. They sent it to Allure with the request to change the neckline to the sweetheart of a different gown (so basically they put the neckline of another gown on my dress). I haven't seen it yet, but I remember seeing the dress and thinking "wow, that's pretty deep", but I didn't really process the meaning of that until 2 weeks later...when it was too late. I actually called FI (we don't live together) at 1 am having a panic attack. lol. I figure if it's too deep and my boobs are falling out, I'll just have it altered...again. lol. The joys of being big chested!
@mrsbruff2b: I find drop waist with puffy skirt is the best for short girls if you want almost like a princessy ball gown look :) TRY THEM! And you are soo right she looks stunniing in it!
@TheLionQueen: YAY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS MY PAIN! my friends make fun of me cuz they all have such cute boobs...I LOVE IT! anywaysss... if it is too deep and you dont like it...just add something that is the same material from the dress...anyways I suck. I am SURE your boutique will have plenty of ideas. Till then try not to worry and see it on!! :) OOH another IDEA! have them put in a bra for you in the dress...I dont know what the terminology is for that. but when your boobs sit right...you wouldnt need a bra and thus it helps them look more...tame? hahaha. Please update me when you get the dress okay?! I'm sure it will work out! :)
@bbutterfly: I will most likely do that. :) I will definitely post an update, probably in a separate thread, but an update nonetheless! And thank you for the encouraging words!
