We finished our invitations last night and I just couldnt wait to get them out. I was so eager that I walked down the street and put them all in the blue mailbox. I was told to forget about hand cancelling because these days they need to go through a machine anyway. Is it bad to put it in the mailbox and not go direclty to po? I had them weigh and check the postage earlier in the day. I have this vision of something happening to that mailbox: someone dropping a can of coke in it, throwing their lit cigarette....please make me feel better.

I dropped ours in the blue mailbox, and everyone still got their invites.  It will be totally fine!

i'm sure it'll be fine. it's not like they'll sit in there for THAT long anyway. i mean the mail person comes every day.

i say this, but i'd totally worry too. i think you'll be able to breathe easy once you hear about the first person receiving it in pristine condition.

I dropped mine off on Wed in to the "blue box" too! I am already getting replies that people got them! :)

I think the only reason most people take them to the PO is so they can hand-cancel or they want to make sure they go out on the same day.

I just mailed mine from my office's blue box - they were fine.

I put my last batch in the big blue post office box.  They all got there ok.

I dropped them at the post office only because when i went to put it in the post office drop box, it had this ominous sign that said that if it was over a certain weight it would be returned to me if i didnt go to the front desk. and i wasnt sure what the weight was of my invites (it took 61 cents, so i know its not like a normal letter) and the weight they put was an odd number and i dont do conversion well in my head.

mine were all hand cancelled though.

I dropped our STD's in the blue mailbox directly outside a post office, and a few people never received theirs (my parents included!).

But I also dropped our invites in the blue mailbox, directly outside a different post office, and I have received plenty of responses already, and have not heard from anyone not receiving theirs.  I personally asked my parent's if they received theirs this time!
