I know it's scary but it is for the good of your dog. You will pick him up tonight and he will be up and running around soon enough.
He was probably feeling YOUR nervous energy!
You are not a bad mom you are a good mom for taking care of him and getting him neutered!
Everything will be fine and he will be soooo happy to see you, very drowsy LOL, but very happy!
Ohhh, you're fine. Pets hate going to the vet. My little one is always so good natured and is fine with me clipping her nails and cleaning her ears. But the second she gets to the vet, she acts like a freakin' maniac.
Dogs always know when something is amiss. Just know that he will he really happy to see him mom again when you pick him up! It is the best feeling to have them back again.
To be clear, I know I'm being a giant baby about this, and he'll be just fine, it's just the waiting that is bugging me right now. Though, the cat is walking around the house having a giant party, at the moment, so she's thrilled! :)
Aw, he'll be fine! What you're doing for him is so good in the long run, and it's a safe procedure.
I know how you feel though. My cat, Holly, doesn't travel well. I mean, things come out of both ends the second she gets in the car. So when we absolutely have to drive her somewhere, the vet gave us this sedative to give her. This summer, we had to take her on a ninety minute drive, and when I gave it to her it just made her... well, drunk. She was yowling, stumbling around, falling over, and it was so sad to watch! I couldn't forgive myself even though I was helping her. So I know how it feels!
He will be a-ok! I know it's stressful, I've gone through it twice now, but you'll be surprised how fast he bounces back to his old self!
AW. You are doing the right thing!!! Being a parent means making hard decisions!
Ohhhhhhh poor baby and mommy. He'll be ok. Just love on him when you get him back and he'll understand.
He will be FINE! My cats acted drunk for a few hours when they got home from the choppity chop. They forget all about it, promise. You are a GOOD mom. =]
He'll be fine. Mine loves going to the vet... lol. He probably was just feeding off your nerves :-)
Awww! He'll be all better and hopefully this will help the behavior issue a lot! Eat some chocolate and give him lots of love when he gets home!
He will be fine. Better than fine, cause in a few weeks he will get to stop searching for something he is not getting!
My guys HATE going to the vet, and I AM their vet! So even thought it just means bringing them to work with me, I still feel guilty. My newest goes in this week to lose the majority of his teeth.
i know how you feel! i felt the same way when i dropped off my 2 cats at the vet to get them fixed. i got them both done on the same day and it broke my heart to walk away from the cage they had me put them in. my male cat ace was so terrified. hes scared of anyone but the two of us and to leave him there with people he didn't know almost made me cry! he knew it was coming too. he could tell something was up when we tried to catch him to put him in the carrier. he crawled up inside our couch.
There is nothing wrong with being a worried puppy mom, that is what good mom's do.
Awww.... I know the guilty feeling! Any time I put my cats in their carriers to go to the vet, they start making that terrible deep, throaty, moaning meow that cats make when they are distressed. I always have to drive (in the passenger seat of course) with a couple fingers poking through the cage door so they can rub against my hand and not feel like they are being shipped off somewhere!
On a side note, my one cat has to ride on my lap in her carrier because she gets carsick and vomits if I put her carrier in the backseat...

You're a good mama! And you'll remember that once you pick him up from the vet and see how happy he is to see you :) I hope he has a speedy recovery!
@neato....i do the exact same thing with my cats!! that meow breaks my heart every time! i always have a hand poking through their carrier in an effort to help comfort them.
You're a good mama. You're preventing so many future problems by doing this. We had one boy that we could barely get in through the front door. He weighed 120lbs so that made carrying him in impossible. So, he kind of saved us some money by not getting examined and instead just recieved his shots in the waiting room. Trust me, some dogs just don't like to go to the vet at all.
You're a great Dog Mom! I was really nervous when I took my babies to the vet to get them fixed, too. You'll see him soon!
Oh I know how you feel. When I got my puppy neutered years ago and he came home in such a drunken state due to the meds he was just out of it I felt bad. But really, it's a good thing. Helps keep the boys from wanting to mark in the house, or so I hear, and it's also a good thing since males with balls have a much higher risk to develop testicular cancer.
Let us know how he's doing :) Maybe he'll get to spend the night in the parent's bed?
As a vet tech, I can say I always feel terrible taking pets away from their owners when both are nervous. But once we round that corner and you're out of sight, they're back to their bouncy selves most of the time! It's mostly a nervousness and separation anxiety thing.
My little lady just got spayed last week, and I actually had to help on her surgery. I was a wreck the whole time, so you're not alone!

He wouldn't walk and all four of his legs were shaking. Then, even though he hadn't eaten (like they told me) he threw up on their floor. They had to pick him up and carry him to get him back there.
And I feel like the WORST dog Mom ever, he kept trying to look back and see me.
I'll get him at 4, I went out and got him all his stuff. I just felt horrible because he was so, SO excited to get in the car, and then when we went on a new road, he was all "Hey, wait..."
