Hey, me again :)
My dress is this one: Style 2034(W)...I think the "W" stands for woman or wide LOL...that's always nice, eh? But yea, the W's fit nice if you have curves. Honestly I don'y have a waist either, the smallest part is right below my bustline and then is WAABOOM from there...LOL. This was the first dress I tried on, tried on so many other after it which just didn't compare. Right now I'm an 18W in this Alfred Angelo, but I ordered it in a 16W as I've lost 25 pounds and I'm going for atleast another 25 before the wedding. I dunno, this dress just hugs all the right places and I feel beautiful in it...even if I didn't lose anymore weight. That's so important to me...comfort. I don't want to be worrying all day that I look like a huge cow...none of us should! I think that dress looks great on you though, and your arms are the last thing I noticed! You just haven't found "the one" yet, because when you do you'll feel beautiful!
I love that dress in the pic and yes i had the same problem my dress is to big but im goign to get it fittted. It came down to what i got for the price my dress was fancy and nice reg 1000 then marked to 200 so i took it. im hoping i still feel the same when i go for fittings in a couple months.
agreed with mrsKtoBe, the right undergarments can take off a couple pounds easy.
And that dress looks great on you!
and i think i want to join the Spark team to even though i dont know much about it!
i love that dress on you!! we are the same dress size and that was one of my favorite dresses from DB, i however cannot find any dress in my size that i really want to try on and i have simply decided to go the preowned route. i am over it. it is way too stressful for me.
for starters - girl you look GREAT in that dress! it's so purdy!
second, you'd be surprised how many smaller shops carry dresses in all sizes, and have extremely knowledgeable people who are sooo nice and will do their best to find styles that are flattering in your size. i wanted to go to David's Bridal just because, but i ended up choosing to go a much lesser known store in my borough for my first experience, and had a (shockingly!) good experience. the store's seamstress was the woman who helped me and she was super sweet, explained LOTS of things to me about how almost every detail of a dress can be altered and what various fits and styles can't or won't do for me, and not to pay attention to the size but what made me feel good. it was odd that nothing i tried on was in my exact size - 90% of them were several sizes bigger - i am street size 14/16 (and also 5'11" and i was mostly afraid of finding that dresses would be too short!) and for a small shop, it seems they had TONS of dresses in my size. i was blown away.i'm definitely going back with my mom and hope to see more stuff.
third, alfred angelo makes FABULOUS dresses for ladies of a larger stature. as does enzoani blue. i saw lots of these dresses online and didn't think much of them, but when i slipped into a couple at the shop i was like "WOW". and untimately if you don't find any off-the-rack styles you like, get something custom made! depending on what you want, it could end up costing the same or less for something you really love!
the moral of the story: don't throw in the towel based on one experience. keep an open mind and be on the lookout for off the beaten path places.
I hear you Crebre80! I'm so over dress shopping.
I'm leaving it for the last minute as possible, and in between, I'm eating healthier and working out.
Thanks, lovebug, i agree with you, I just haven't found the one...but this experience turned me off to looking (at least for now). Christalynn--you & I had the same experience!
Thanks for the advice Jaxx!
Just found this thread... will join the SparkTeam today! I would really like to lose 50 more pounds by my 10/23/10 wedding. I know that's ambitious, but I think I can do it. Nothing motivates more than trying on wedding dresses!
I'm 9 years out from gastric bypass, lost 150 pounds with the surgery, got out of a bad marriage, fell in love with my soulmate, and got happy -- and gained back 80 pounds. I'm down 25 since 10/1/09, and have begun to kick things into high gear now.
Let's do this thing!
Ms. Gigiram77 you look amazing. I was confused when I saw the picture of you in your dress, I thought it was someone else based on how you said you looked. You rocked that dress!!! If you want to feel better do whatever you need to but you already look great!
Yep, I too felt like a bit of a slob when I was trying on wedding dresses (I think I was in denial about my weight). It didn't help that my ass was hanging out the back of most of the dresses I tried on! Any ho, I started the weight watchers diet 3 weeks ago and I've lost 8lbs and I'm feeling a bit better about myself now (even got a bit more energy) so I guess it may have been the wake up call I needed, and I'm not just doing it for aesthetic reasons, I've got a history of heart disease in my family so it really was time to start eating healthily. BTW I'm a UK 14 and 5ft 2" hoping to get down to a UK 12 ;-)
Aw, thanks Ms. Waitingbee! You're so sweet! You can do it, domes_cat! I started eating much healthier as well, and am down 5lbs since trying on that dress. Here's hoping that my motivation will stick this time around!
@gigiram77 thanks girl ;-) well done for your weight loss, stick at it, you can totally do it too :-)
