Happy Monday! I just wanted to share this crazy story.
So, FH had his bachelor party on Saturday. He originally planned to take a cab home at the end of the night, but I got a text from him around midnight saying there was some drama, a couple of super drunk guys, and he was going to sleep at his best man’s house. I didn’t think much of it (I mean, even with a group of normally responsible guys, these things happen at bachelor parties sometimes!). I was just worried that this “drama” had inhibited the good time, and felt bad for FH.
So yesterday he comes home and I ask what heppened, and he says “it sounds crazy, but the BEST explaination I can come up with for what happened is that my brother and [groomsman B] got slipped something in their drinks”.
So, the day started with a low key barbecue at BMs house, then they went on a boat tour around the city with drinks and apps. no one was drinking super heavily at that point. They get off the boat, and everyone is doing just fine. They go to a bar with a patio, and a few guys stay outside to snag a table, and FH and others go in to get drinks. he comes back outside and sees his brother looking REALLY out of it at the table, and a few minutes later he starts puking. Then he looks and sees GM B had wandered off and sat somewhere else and HE was out of it and puking too. It hit them both at the exact same time. and neither of these guys are lightweights, and they did not seem at all drunk on the boat.
So they get them back to BM’s house in cabs and they pass out. The next day they both wakeup with headaches, and neither of them remember anything after getting off the boat. they both completely blacked out.
If that is really what happened, who would do something like that? FH’s brother thinks it might have been the bartenders- because he had a lot of cash with him and tipped them as they were getting on the boat to “take care of” the group. He thinks they saw him with that much cash and thought it would be a good way to get more tips- or steal from him. (the next morning all his cash was gone, and he doesn’t remember spending all of it). GM B’s theory is that they got drinks intended for someone else. (there were two bachelorette parties on the boat as well). I know this all sounds crazy, but what are the odds that the same thing would happen to these guys at the exact same time?
I mean, at the end of the day what matters is that these guys are safe, and everything is fine, but it sucks that it put such a damper on what was supposed to be a fun night.
I have (thank god) never been the recipient or the friend of a recipient of a “roofie” or anything like that. Does anyone know- does this sound like the “symptoms”? Does it sound like that could be what happened?
