Here is a list of drugstore foundations and mascaras that I have either used on myself or I have used on others and this is what I think of them:

Foundations:

Almay Smart Shade: A-

 Has SPF 15 which is a plus.  This makeup is fairly sheer, but good for a more natural look.  With 3 shades to choose from it is easy to find your color.  It comes out in a grey/white color and changes as it is applied to your skin.  It does give a slightly flat finish, so you may want to consider using a bronzer or eluminating powder with it.  Also works best for fair to med skin tones.

LOreal True Match: A

With lots of colors to choose from, finding your perfect shade is made easier.  Choose from 3 color families, Warm, Neutral and cool colors.  This makeup goes on sheer and feels very light. It also provides coverage for skin redness and discoloration while still allowing your natural skin to show through.  Perfect for oily, normal and combination skin types.  Has a natural finish.  Not recommended for very dry skin.

Revlon Age Defying Makeup with Botafirm: A-

This makeup has SPF 15 which is a plus.  This is a hydrating foundation, so this is good for normal to dry skin types.  It doesn't seem to stay on well for people with combinations skin.  It seems to ware off fairly quickly. It gives a soft matte finish.   It comes in a wide range of colors and types.  Over all a good drugstore foundation for the price.   

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse: B+

This foundation doesn't have as many colors to choose from as some of the other brands.  It is hard to find the right shade for this product.  The finish is natural matte.  It does offer light to med coverage and is build-able.  This product claims to have a "airbrush" finish.  It does offer good coverage and lays on top of the skin instead of sinking into every pore.  However this makeup tends to move around a lot.  If you touch your skin it will come off on your hands.  So I recommend only using a small amount of this product for a more sheer coverage.  

Mascaras:

 Maybelline XXL Volume + Length Microfiber Mascara: A+

This is a great buy!  This is a two step process.  First the thickening base coat (white) and then the top coat (in your desired color).  With or without the base coat this is a great mascara.YOU will notice a big difference when using the base coat.  This is what gives the top coat the thickness and body.  This mascara doesn't easily smudge and doesn't seem to flake at all.

Maybelline Great Lash: C

This mascara has a tendency to smear and flake easily.  It doesn't add thickness or volume, it just simply coats the lashes with color and a little shape - if you use the curved brush.  For the price its not bad, but it also has a lot of set backs.

Maybelline Sky High Curves Extreme length and curl mascara: A+

This is a great mascara.  It easy to use and does build thickness and length. Not a ton of length, but it does help out a lot.  It doesn't smudge or flake easily.  A great mascara

Cover Girl Professional Mascara Classic Look: A 

This is a nice mascara.  At only around $5, this is a great buy.  This does add a little length but not much thickness.  You can layer this mascara since it doesn't clump easily, but this takes effort and practice.  Using a lash comb in-between applications is key to keep the length and separation.  Over all a great mascara for the price. 

**all mascaras should be replaced after 2-3 month even if they are not empty.  After so many used - air gets into them and they begin to dry out and may preform poorly.** 

Mascara - I have been using the Maybeline XXL now for a while and LOVE IT - I bought the waterproof one for my wedding!
