A couple nights ago some idiot who rents a unit in the building over decided to have a house party and his buddies got into some argument and picked up a plant potter and threw it into the back of our vehicle. It’s repairable, but it’s money we weren’t expecting to spend considering hubby is back in school full time and money is tight.
I’m annoyed, mad, and upset that the building isn’t even getting back to us about the situation, it seems like they’ve kind of brushed it off like whatever. They get multiple complaints about this tenant because he’s always partying and smoking weed they they still haven’t done anything about it. The drunk guys got so rowdy, I had to call 911 because they were destroying everyone’s property. The cops didn’t even catch them on time because the 911 operator didn’t speak English and kept asking me questions I told him I couldn’t answer and even asked me if I could go out there to get a better look at the suspects faces…. seriously.
I’m so mad for my husband and I’m so mad that this idiot building just lets bad things happen..

Omg. I read the title as “100lb pot plant.”
I’m sorry that happened though. Jerks.

@allyfally: Lol, I did to and I’m the one who wrote it. They are jerks! I’ve honestly lost faith in the kindess in people

Honestly I’d file a police report for property damage against the person who lives in the apartment. Either they won’t throw a party like that again or they will direct you to the person who actually threw the plant potter.

@allyfally: +1 about the pot plant LOL.
Sucks about your car; I’m hoping you will be talking to them about what happened.

Did you get a police report on the damage to your car? 🙁
I’m sorry your neighbors suck so much.
Hopefully they get what’s coming to them soon.

@thegreeneyedkri: Yes, we filed a police report that night. The cops cleared out the party and issued fines. We spent the night cleaning all the glass on the ground so that anyone or animals wouldn’t walk through it. I’ve given the police file number to the building and all they said was that they’d investigate and nothing else. I’m calling the Residential Tenancy Office to see what my rights are and if I’m in the right, I guess I’ll spend $50 to get the $500 we loss in the deductible.

That’s AWFUL! I’m sorry your neighbors suck and your landlord is apathetic!

@WagonWheel: That’s ridiculous. They weren’t even arrested after that kind of property damage? Your neighbors are horrible. I wonder if the landlord is in someway related to the rowdy neighbors and that’s why he does nothing about their behavior. I think seeing what your rights are is a good idea. I hope you can recover some of the cost (at least!).

@allyfally: HAHA!! So did I!
Sounds like it’s time to move OP Is it enough damage to put through insurance?
@allyfally: I did, too! I was going to suggest she sell the pot to finance the repairs. 😀
OP, I hope you get some sort of satisfaction out of this, one way or the other.

@happyheidi1984: Bah! I love my apartment. My building is quiet, but the building next door not so much! Plus this is the only place that allows my lovely 70lb Labernese!
@thegreeneyedkri: I called the RTO and they said there isn’t anything in writing saying that I am owed compensation but I can try to fight it. I might do that if I don’t hear back from the building.
@EffieTrinket: Haha! Well if I had some pot, I’d probably wouldn’t be living in an apartment. =)
@BrandNewBride: Some of the neighbors do suck! I’m trying to take this as a life sucks sometimes…
