I think it’s super cute to wear cute boots like sparkly uggs for winter weddings, even if just for any outdoors pictures or transportation. You could always wear cute flats for all the inside stuff (so most of the day). What does your dress look like?

@aekc:  ooh I love your dress! I would just wear some cute boots for any outdoors stuff (which I’m sure is very minimal because Chicago is cold in December) and then wear flats or heels or whatever once you’re inside.

I would purposely do something like cute Sorel’s or some Hunter boots in your wedding colors for outdoor’s!

@aekc:  I’m going to wear my hunter boots, or buy another cute pair for photos (if the weather cooperates and it’s not a full-on blizzard!). I’ll wear my Choos indoors only, or if the sidewalk has been cleared off. Not going to run the risk of ruining those puppies!

@OP: I am getting married in MN this month.  My ceremony and venue are in the same place- so here’s what I am doing:  wearing custom made indoor ballet flats/shoes (they can be worn outside in dry, warm weather- so I will wear them in the venue).  I bought a pair of gray Ugg minis with a button to wear outside/after reception when we go out/to hotel.  I honestly don’t know if you will be able to see them when I walk- I won’t know that until I pick my dress up from the seamstress- but I don’t care, either.  If I need to wear my ballet flats for outdoor pics, I will.  But I can’t imagine I won’t be able to hide my Uggs while I at least stand for a photo.  I am OK freezing for a pic, but not OK freezing for regular travel/when we go out after.

In your case- I’d be more concerned about ice- slipping in heels.  There’s a better chance of ice/snow when you’re getting married.

    Sparkles I Do!

    Bailey I Do!

    Bailey Bow Bling I Do!

As a fellow Chicagoan, I feel your pain.  If I had gotten married in the winter, I would defiinitely have gotten a pair of these uggs!  So cute for your outdoor photos.

I’m just gonna bring my regular grey Uggs for our outdoor pics. Nobody will see them anyway under my dress, and I’ll be warm and comfy! Then I’ll just change into my flats when we are back inside.
