So, I think I’m going to talk to my husband about buying a nice camera for me for Mother’s Day this year. I’m really not an expert on cameras so I wanted to ask, because I know we have some photographers around here.
I need something: easy to use, not too expensive, good quality. I don’t want to spend more than $500-600 but I want something that is going to take nice pictures. I have a little Samsung digital right now and I hate how blurry and yellowed the pictures turn out. Now that we have a baby and we’re going to be traveling a lot and sending pictures to family in the states and Darling Husband when he gets deployed, I really want to be able to have good quality pictures.

bump! I’d like to know about this too, as I’ve been considering getting a new Canon.

I am a hardcore Canon fan so that’s my suggestion. You can defintely get an entry level Canon DSLR for that price.

I have a Nikon D5000 and it’s amazing! I love it. I’ve had it for a little over a year and I know there’s still stuff it does that I don’t know about because it has so many features!

I’m not a photographer, but one of my dearest friends is, and she recommended a Canon Rebel to us. She said it was the natural upgrade from a point and shoot digital. We ended up getting a used Canon Rebel XTI from adorama.com. With the lens (also purchased used from adorama, and a memory card and bag from Amazon, I spent just under $300.

I have a Nikon D60 and love that thing. My mom has a cannon and hates it and wishes she had a Nikon.
