Hi Bees - I am considering having a duet entree (filet & chicken) for our dinner.  I love all food and personally love being able to try both meats, and a lot of my family members are the same way, so I think they will appreciate the duet entree.  (There will, of course, be a vegetarian option.)  And to me, it also seems like more of a generous offering.

My only concern is that some people will have a negative reaction -- that they would have preferred to choose between chicken or steak.  Do you think a lot of people have that reaction??

Cost is not really an issue --- it ends up being about the same to have a duet entree or give a single-entree choice of chicken or beef.

    Thanks for your help!

I love the dual entrée concept.  I'm always bothered by having to choose an entrée, especially if it's via RSVP.  How am I supposed to know what I'll want for dinner 6-8 weeks in advance?  I think a dual plate is easier for you and your guests.

I don't think it would be bad. I too always like to try both meals at places so my FI always orders something else.

would it be possible for you to have a steak fish duet meal?

A lot of people would love it. Those who don't will trade their entrees whether or not it is the correct thing to do.

I'd consider myself to be the "average" wedding guest and I'd love it! If they prefer one meat over the other, they can trade with their neighbor.

I'd love that. And I feel like if I were in a chicken only mood, I could easily switch my filet for my husband's chicken.

We're doing the duet entree. I've been to other weddings that had it and it worked out fine. This way everyone gets a taste of each. Plus it's a lot easier than having it on an RSVP and trying to organize it along with the seating chart.

If we don't do a buffet, we are definitely doing this.

Thanks everyone!  Yes, filet and fish is an option, and I do think it is more elegant (i love steak + crabcakes or steak + shrimp), but I think I am going to avoid it because it is a little more expensive and I know several people coming who would not eat fish or steak.  I guess it is a little odd to do steak + chicken but hopefully the presentation is good and it still looks appetizing. :)

We are doing a duet of steak and chicken too. I hope people will like it. When we have a choice between steak and chicken as wedding guests my FI and I always order one of each and share anyway!

I would prefer a choice, if it's a matter of piece of steak and piece of chicken vs. 2 pieces of chicken or a larger piece of steak.  I really love chicken and would want to have 2 pieces, rather than being forced into having only one.
