Anyone ever see it before? what ya think? so im watching the duggar wedding.... um how creepy was that DVD that the father gave to his son for the wedding night. ewww. i cant believe their getting married, but they still need chaperones until their acutal wedding day.... how do you really know someone/connect with someone when you have a chaperrone around all the time... there so awkward with each other too. very weird.
there something about this show thats creepy....
was that the one where their their son got married, i'm just making sure we're on the same page....lol. Cause as far as i know only one of the kids got married, just making sure, lol.
the duggar wedding?
like, josh and anna?
cause i think they were married like, last year werent they?
or did someone else get married and i'm just so behind. that would suck - cause i find the duggars incredibly entertaining :P
ya its josh and anna, its a repeat on TLC i guess. i totally agree it is entertaining lol. wow omg they just showed the proposal...... balloons really?? wow that was awkard. lol
I am watching the duggar wedding right now too!
I also think the chaperone thing is really weird. My personal belief is that if your religious beliefs are so strong you can withhold any temptation WITHOUT a chaperone!
Even their proposal was awkward! They did a one armed awkward hug after getting engaged.
I didn't see the video for the wedding night - what was on it?
they couldnt show it but they were bleeping words, so i am guesing it got pretty descriptive. i totally agree with you on the chaperone thing.... i cant imagine having your first kiss and first sexual expierence in ONE night.... can you imagine how awkard it probably was!?!
Yea i saw that! I think its insanity at its finest, but hey everyone believes in something different. At least his proposal was thought out and all that. my husband asked me right after he got out of the shower and was in a towel, not romantic.
it's definitely not the way that I'm raising my kids, like they do. i agree its kinda weird, like about their vow renewal, how she's modest, she's had 19 kids and has modesty??? I've had 2, and could prety much care less, lol.
i didn't see the dvd that was given to them though! What was on it???
I think TLC needs to stop making people with an abnormal amount on children reality stars. I guess whatever sells though!
How can you be modest and have your life shown on network television?
To each their own. Would I raise a family like they do? no. But I see nothing wrong with it.
And yeah when I watched the wedding episode last year I thought it was a little "odd" but it works for them! They stick to their beliefs so more power to them :)
lol at least the akwardness of sex for the first time probably only lasted a few minutes!!!!
@PirateJenn - I just choked on my water when I read your comment! So funny... yet so true!
lol sweet, that was the reaction i was hoping for! But hell yea, its so true....
@pirate jen- ahha probably only a few minnutes! ya, you cant really be to private when your on a reality show. do they videotape her giving birth on the show too? lol but l i do love Michelle (the mom)she just seems so sweet!
At least this particular family can afford all their kids with no loans, etc (according to them). I don't have a problem with people choosing to have kids or not, but if you can't afford them, that's another story :-)
@stargal: I don't think they show her actually giving birth. I was watching an episode before the last baby was born and the cameras had to leave the room because she had a vaginal ultrasound done.
I grew up in AR, and have met some of the Duggars, they're all incredibly sweet, and Michelle is like that in real life. She is so at peace with the world, which is such a testimony to her faith! :-)
The wedding definitely wasn't my taste (and we're pretty conservative, my FI and I were both raised in conservative, homeschool families), but I thought it was very meaningful for them, and definitely sweet.
Oh wow, how do you not bring the ring inside right away?
So he becomes her AUTHORITY when there married?? WTH!!!! wow, thats really horrible. i cant believe that was included in their vows... i'm sorry but i cant believe still follow that anciet rule.... wow. sorry i am updating this while i am watching it on tv, so my thoughts are everywherre. lol.
I think they had only met/talked a handful of times before the proposal. It was awkward for sure. After he proposed, they just sat in the booth looking uncomfortable and had NOTHING to say to each other.
Also, the matching shirts bug.
I was also pretty horrified when Anna's dad talked about passing his authority over his daughter to her new husband.
On the other hand, I was actually kind of impressed with Jim Bob's talk with Josh about sex and relationships. He was really stressing how important it is to make sure your wife feels heard in the relationship and also that it can take women longer to "get in the mood." In a way, I was a little surprised by how thoughtful Jim Bob was towards what Anna's feelings would be.
I come from a totally different background from the Duggars and can't imagine not even kissing before marriage, and like I said, the authority issue disturbed me deeply, but I was happy to see the tone of the father-son talk and the respect they showed for Anna's feelings & physical needs.
Wow male dominance much!!!!!!
I didn't know that still existed!
I don't dream of my husband singing to me! It would embarrass me and I would laugh my ass off!!!! But you would laugh too if you heard my FI sing LOL!
the matching shirt thing bugged me to lol. and Josh's singing is creepy, sorry just saying :) I dont agree on their way of living, but i guess if you are on a reality show,, your asking for people to judge you but i do think that it is quite admirable to be so commited to god and it works for them then thats great.
I just watched the repeat of it on TLC too. I thought most of it was cute, and nice how they had everyone so involved, but I definitely was shocked when I heard the passing of authority comment too. Overall they looked happy though so it was cute :)
Ok the tape they were listening to in the car is a little creepy too!
yeah they're definately very conservative, and josh sorta bugs me, but i looooove michelle, and her and jim bob still seem so in love after how many years and kids, so they must be doing something right.
ya really creepy. and i totally want a pillow with me and my fi faces on it! LOL.... to funny.
I'm still watching - now they are on to Josie coming to the family. I gotta say, I haven't watched this much before. Theya re so different, but in no way do I see this as bad!?
I don't see anything wrong with it since they aren't hurting anyone and they all seem happy with their lives. It's not the way I would choose to live my life, but there are many many many ways I wouldn't want to live my life and their way isn't the worst of them, imo lol Now, all those kids is an entirely different topic, but yeah lol
Joeyswife- totally agree with u. its not for me, but it works great for their family, which is good
I totally agree there's nothing wrong with it, for me its just not my thing. I'm glad they aren't beating the hell out of their kids! They have very well behaved kids, so good for them! just not my thing....
OK I was not watching it but since you guys were talking about it I recorded it...
*****Disclaimer: I am agnostic. I do believe that you should have sex before you are married, heck I believe that you should live with the person who you are going to marry before you are married.*****
Although these are my opinions I respect that people have different opinions. That is the beauty of life; differences!!!
Within the show I have learned that in the world of Duggar's:
Dancing is the Devil
That they honestly think that men control their marriage and life. Men are priests???
That I don't ever think that I have ever seen the Mom not preggo!
For as traditional as the family seems the groom gets to see the bride before they get married?
They had 80 gallons of juice?!?! I hope that people brought flasks...;) I would have...
Apparently god decides how many children you have.... not sex...
They have not even KISSED?!?!!???!!!!????!??!? And you want to spend the rest of your life with this person?!?!?!
I think that their cake cutting ceremony was nice until the sisters got involved...
Listening to to a Wedding Night tape on the way to hotel room WTF????
Ok {end rant} I was a little embarrassed for the kids..
@joeswifey - I totally agree with what you said.
I watch the show, and yes there values are extremely conservative... But i applaud them for having the time to teach all those kids discipline, guidance, and manners! I don't agree with alot of there views but I have no bad to talk about them. &Frankly this is something that is much better to watch on tv then Bad Girls Club or the Jersey Shore lol. On the wedding, i could NEVER imagine not kissing before marriage.. along with other things, but they show intiative that they are always willing to work on there relationship through God, so who are we to say they are crazy?
So a girlfriend of mine has turned into an uber extreme Christian (cool, whatever!) and she now believes in no kissing before marriage. It's a bit odd for us to grasp---but it takes a lot of will power and even though I don't "get it", I know how important it is to her. Gosh, I know I could neverrrrr do that!
I never seen it but them duggars freak me out anyway...
@VirginiaMarie What type of christianity does she study? that is odd i mean to each their own but I dont get it ive heard of it before but not sure if its a religion thing or now just personal belief because she is now christian?.
@Sep---I'm embarassed to say that I don't even know the details. She takes the Bible very literally and that is her and her study group's interpretation of scripture---so possibly this is her personal choices as a Christian? Hmm.
@ VirginiaMarie-I had a friend in college who was like that too. Even though we lived on campus her and her bf made rules for themselves--one of which was that they were not allowed to be in a room alone together. I thought it was a bit extreme for a 21 yr old but, to each his own I guess.
I have seen the show a few times (never really home to watch TV!) and the main thought that stood out in my head was that maybe if husbands and wives got along like those two do, the divorce rate would decrease? Im just saying...maybe! lol
