I just read up on the ARD program:

http://www.duiarresthelp.com/dui-ard-program.php

These sentences jumped out at me: “If you complete the required conditions of the ARD program, the criminal DUI charges against you will be dropped. It will be as if you were never charged with DUI and you’ll have a clear record.”

If I was charged with a DUI, I would do *anything* to get it off of my record.  That sort of thing can impact job applications in the future…

It would definitely be worth it to me to pay a lawyer to get back into ARD!  Plus it sounds like it would help your FI might then feel like he has some control over his life, which would help his depression.

Good luck to both of you!!
