Has any anyone done the Dukan diet and not completely given up alcohol? I dont want to sound like a total lush but I have multiple birthday parties and weddings over the next few months and I don't really want to stay sober during the celebrations.

I have cut down my drinking to weekends only but I dont think I want to cut it out completely.

Has anyone had success with this diet and an occasional party night? I dont want to eat this menu if the alcohol cancels it out lol!

The way that the Dukan diet works, is that you go into ketosis.  That means your body is using your fat source as energy.

When you drink, your body will use the alcohol (and sugars) for energy, so you won't lose weight (and will probably bloat).

I did a similar diet (Atkins like) and I found that alcohol did slow my weight loss, but did not stop it. The first week, i didn't drink alcohol at all, then, after that, I had the occasional drink and continued losing. I would usually drink vodka + no carb/calorie mixer or a glass of red wine. I would avoid beer & anything with sugar.

@SaraP2012:  I'm not sure about alcohol and the Dukan diet, but props to you for sticking to that crazy thing! :P

I would suggest simply eating healthy and exercise, and drinking in moderation.

Healthy eating and excercise is the way to go... ugh. Undecided I probably shouldnt do anything crazy because I will regret it in the long run.

I can give up beer for sure but I dont think I would like to give up my vino!
