Ok, so I’m on my first cycle off BCP after having been on for 16 years. I’ve been charting- I O’d on cycle day 20 and I am on day 13 of luteal phase. My temp dropped below the cover line this morning so I’m expecting AF today or tomorrow I’d guess. This morning I have a dull ache that comes and goes on my left side, feels like left ovary maybe? I thought maybe it was normal but I googled and it seems like any discomfort on one side or the other before your period is not good- most websites stating either a cyst or endometriosis. Anyone else have twinges/dull ache on one side before AF? It’s not painful per say but I am aware of the twinges. Any thoughts?

@SeaTurtle88: I’d guess that’s good ol’ cramps rearing their heads. I was on birth control forever too, and experienced similar cramps when I went off them. I really doubt it’s endometriosis – girls who have that are in extreme pain, it’s not a dull ache. My vote is for period cramps.

I had pain on one side when I was pregnant. The doctor said I had ovulated from that side and had a cyst from the pregnancy (very common).
It’s likely nothing, but hopefully the cramps/ache go away soon!

@SeaTurtle88: I get it sometimes, but not every time.

@SeaTurtle88: I had dull cramping-like pains from my right ovary (the one I ovulated from) during my BFP cycle from a corpus luteum cyst – they are completely normal and will go away on their own. It happens because fluid gets trapped, forming a cyst, in the follicle that ovulated that cycle. Eventually the fluid gets absorbed and it goes away. I think my pain lasted 5-6 days off and on.

I have had a few cysts but they usually go away on their own. I wouldn’t worry unless the pain becomes severe.

I had the same cramping pain on my left side too.

Thanks ladies, you all made me feel better! Since I haven’t had a real (non bcp) period in so long every single thing has me freaked out and googling. The ache still feels the same so I’m hoping it is just adjusting to being off bc or a cyst that will go away on its own. Thank you!

I get this every month. I think it’s normal PMS for me
