I always took it as shorthand for "fiance"... (first 2 letters) Have I been wrong all this time?
hee hee - for ages I took it to mean Future Intended - lol - then I finally realized it was Fiance
I do like sweet baboo - maybe we could start using that just to really confuse everyone :)
Maybe a sticky should be posted on the board with common acronyms. I would love to hear the answer too :)
FI=Future Intended
FH=Future Husband
Usually you refer to your own fiance as FI and someone else's as FH.
MOB=Mother of the Bride
MOH=Maid of Honor
BM=Bridesmaid or Best Man (look at context)
GM=Groomsman
FMIL=Future Mother in Law
FFIL=Future Father in Law
BIL=Brother in Law
SIL=Sister in Law

You know, the wedding world has a lot of weird abbreviations.
I can't bring myself to use BM (it means something else in my world ;)
or STD (also has another meaning in my world!)
Each and every time, I spell those words out....

Oh yeah, my mom told me she LOVED my Save the Date post cards I made...except I named the JPG "STD.jpeg" LOL!!!! I forgot that it means something else!!

I love calling them STDs I think it's hysterical :) My FI calls me his FI to other people, it's really cute.
What else does BM stand for??
I'm wondering the same thing! maybe my mind isn't as dirty as others?? haha only joking!
The only thing I can think of is Bachelor of Medicine. Seeing as it is coming from doctorgirl, it makes sense, but it isn't dirty. Not sure what else it could mean.
I told a friend of mine (who went entirely paperless for his wedding) that we'd be sending out our STD's by email to which he responded that as excited as he is for our wedding he wasn't quite sure he'd want me to send him an STD by email or any other means...I've always been uncomfortable with the abbrev. but since he's recently married I knew he'd know the lingo, so it cracked me up even more.

STD makes me laugh every time :P Save the Date will never have the same meaning again!
BM stands for Bridesmaids!! we need a key guide all these abbreviation's!! lol

For some reason everytime I read "STD" I still think, "what the heck??" I know it means "save the date" but it still gets me everytime!

Alright, I've been reading Weddingbee for ages- even got engaged and married while reading it- and I have yet to figure out what FI means. I know it refers to your sweet baboo, but what the heck does it stand for?
