Lots of wedding acronyms mean something totally different in, well let’s call it the real world, shall we? Which one can you not get used to, keep interpreting as it’s other meaning, or just cracks you up?
I’ll start with an odd one. One of them for me is DJ – on the other forums I frequent, this means Dinner Jacket.

@Duncan: There’s a forum that discusses dinner jackets so much that there’s an acronym for it???
STD always bothers me. BM sometimes. Mainly the TTC acronyms on this forum are weird to me.

BM here at work means bowel movement, and I chuckle a little everytime I see it here at weddingbee. Std always makes me think of venereal diseases.

@Duncan: I love that you frequent a forum where people are talking about dinner jackets enough to need an abreviation.
For me it’s FOB. Obviously BM and STD are redic, but so common I’m used to them. Every time I see FOB I think, “well that’s not a very nice thing to say.”

@MsW-to-MrsM: I forgot about TTC! Always makes me think of the subway.
@Duncan: I always have to re-read when someone says “FOB” because in California I hear it a LOT but it’s certainly not referring to Father of the Bride.
For me it’s STD, MOB, FOB.
ETA: I often think of “money over bitches” when I see MOB

@MsW-to-MrsM: +1 Anytime I get curious and read a TTC post I have no freaking clue what they are talking about. Then when I figure it out, I want to throw up and gouge my eyes out. I don’t know why I torture myself. I don’t want to hear about anyone’s BDing and I certainly don’t want to know about EWCM. Just. No.

Let’s just say that I’ve never NOT spelled out the word bridesmaid on this site. 🙂

@MsW-to-MrsM: @cbgg: Not unexpected on forums dedicated to men’s style, really.

STD and BM always make me laugh. Which is bad. I’m apparently a 5-year-old on the inside.
@BrandNewBride: Come on now. An 11 year old. 5 year old’s don’t know what STD’s are, and they don’t say bowel movement; they say poo, and then run around laughing.

@MexiPino: Oh boy I had to look those up…yikes, that was almost as scary as looking something up on Urban Dictionary, haha.
@Duncan: Fun idea for a thread! STD and BM are the ones that make me laugh (so mature, I know). 🙂

STD, BM, FOB make me chuckle, especially when I see a title like “Having BM issues, opinions please!” Or “Help, can’t figure out which STD I like more”
ETA: DH – when I was in primary (grade?) school, that was tr common abbreviation for dickhead, and still gets used in preson emails sent from my work account.
