i think it's totally possible. here's a couple pics i found:

it'll work better with your hair pulled back in the front with a little bump in it, i think, to better told the weight of the dupatta. Sort of like Cola's hairstyle. And use lots and lots of bobby pins! :)
Hi Clovertail,
I too plan on wearing my hair down but I feel that usually dupattas with lots of embroidery are too heavy to have in your hair if you have any elaborate hairstyle going on. For myself, I'd like to have a bump in my hair with lots of waves/curls and I know a heavy dupatta on top would kill the hairdo. So my solution is to wear the heavy dupatta over my shoulders for most of the night and for the nikkah, wear a chiffon-type very lightly embroidered dupatta over my hair, kinda like a mantilla veil.
Maybe you can try going for a half up-half down hairstyle and add some volume to the up part of the hairstyle to hold the weight of the dupatta. You could also add a comb or some bobby pin loops as well to secure the dupatta on your head.

Hello,
I am having a Pakistani - American fusion wedding and will be wearing a traditional Pakistani dress with a long dupatta. I really want to keep my hair down for the wedding but can't figure out how it will work with a dupatta since it is so much heavier than a veil. Does anyone have suggestions or pictures of South Asian brides wearing dupattas with different down-dos so I can get an idea of how I should get my hair down?
Thank you!!
