@mtb117:  I’ve seen them, I’ve tried them.  I personally like the Dupioni better that the Peau du Soie fabric.

This is a picture of me in a dress and one of my BMs in one of the dresses.  It has a sheen but it’s a nice fabric – the dresses are nice.  We went with something different because the fabric didn’t suit my sister (who’s a rectangle).

Hmm, so I don’t know if this will be helpful, but I wore a gray dupioni sash with my dress! It was a little shiny, but not in a polyester-y way. Here is a pic:

My bridesmaids are wearing Peau de Soie: ebony. It is definitely shinier than the website. I saw quarry in person and it’s really nice. It’s more textured than the website but not as shiny As PDS. The fabrics look way less shiny in person than they do in people’s wedding photos. I also think they look way less shiny indoors than in outdoor lighting. I tried a bunch of the dresses on before I took my girls. They fit beautifly. I have 6 Bridesmaids and they are all in different gowns. All of them look good. There is something for every body shape. I did find that the dresses with full skirts looked a bit shinier than the more fitted ones. All my girls really liked the dresses.

Yes. The photos are just bad. I was very worried about the fabric being shiny after I saw some real photos from real brides but after seeing the dresses in real life, I’m not worried and I love them. The orange dress above is a good reflection of how they look.

From what I remember seeing, the peau de soie is more of a sheen, the Dupioni is more of a textured lustre. It has dimension without that super shiny polyester satin/taffeta feel. Some of the colours look like they have a higher shine because they are woven with two colours so the high points and low points are emphasized more, like with a shinier material.
