@rcac1208:  don’t say anything to anyone about the dup, just write her a heartfelt thank-you note for the slow cooker itself, and explain why you’re so excited to have a slow-cooker. the thought was the same either way, so if you exchange it for something else you, in fact, still have a slow cooker. 🙂

You tell no one and do what you like with it. It’s a gift, not an imposition – you can do what youlike with it after you receive it.

Write the thank you note for the slow cooker (or just be vague), not for what you exchanged it for.

You write a thank you for the gifts she gave you. You can then return/exchange whichever one you can.

@rcac1208:  I’d exchange it if you can but still send a thank you note thanking her for the quilt and slow cooker.

She probably saw you registered for one and went out and bought one somewhere else.

Don’t say anything, just return it. Thank her for the one she sent you.

I do actually use two crock pots sometimes, but I owned one and then really wanted a digital one so I got a new one, and have found it useful to have both. Wedding wise though I’d return it, there are so many things that you won’t get that you’ll want that credit for.

yep agreed, thank her for it all the same then go return it yourself w/o ever mentioning it. the thought from both you and her remains the same.

Can you try looking for the make and model online?  Some stores might let you exchange it without a receipt for store credit.

@rcac1208:  Many items (besides electronics I think) can be returned without a receipt. Does Grandma have a go-to shopping place? Like wal-mart or Target?

What about returning the one from your registry and keeping grandma’s?
