I cant decide if I should get a videographer or not for our DW? I love the look of the short videos but I am concerned that the videographer may get in the way or the photographer or us lol. Plus it is extra cost, but that is not the main concern. The other is if I do get one do I get one for 4 hours or 8 hours. What are you doing?

Im not!!! but my brother will film the ceremony and speeches. I keep reading that ill regret it but I hate watching myself on video and cant justify spending money on something ill watch maximum twice (and cringe) before I put it away. The little homemade video can go in a keepsake box for our future children to watch, they dont need a professional production.

I would if FI would approve the cost but he’s going all wedding nazi on me Lately. I’m pretty sure if you do decide to hire one , they both will know how to work around eachother. don’t worry about that.
@leecy87: Good idea to have a family member video the ceremony and speeches:)

I think I might..havnt decided yet. I think it would be nice to have a video of the wedding especially o those who couldnt make it can see it. I might just get one of my friends to film it instead to save money

@traveller: My FI is a hobby photog, so pictures are really important to me. I feel I am a lot more likely to flip through a photo album than watch a video.
Having said that, we are truly eloping – no one is coming with us. It may be nice to have the day recorded for our parents.
Final answer: we have no idea, lol.

I didnt have a videographer at my wedding, neither did two of my bridesmaids (at their own weddings) and we have ALL talked about how it is our biggest regret. My wedding was outside, and i had a long walk to the trellace/ my husband and i had a two person band and i cried the whole time and my husbadn cried… it was SO beautiful and completley perfect and there is no way to even replicate that.
Around here – they will even show an uncut version at the reception… and they make videos with music!!
I would take out a 0% credit card and get a wedding videographer and just pay it off over a a year if it is about money. I can’t think of a single thing at my wedding that I regret but that.

Ugh – now I am all sad thinking about it again.

I am having a DW with an AHR and will be getting a videographer for getting ready, the ceremony, and part of the reception for a total of 6 hours. I know it is an added cost, but I really want the video memories and it will be great to show at our AHR.

@leecy87: thanks, thats great. I dont like seeing myself on video either, or hearing my voice lol
@Birdi: thanks, yes FI kept talking about how this was a waste of money but I guess they dont see it like we do. They prob couldnt think of anything worse then watching it again and again lol 🙂
@sweetchiquita12: Yes, thats a good option.
@BoxerLady: good luck with the descision!
@MrsB1015: Oh sorry to hear that, thank so much for your reply. Can you get a slideshow made with your favourite shots put to music, not the same I know..Your wedding sounds amazing!
@scubagal: Sounds great, 🙂
Well ladies, thanks for your replies, I decided to hire the videographer for 6 hours so will see how it goes. Thanks again.

I am deffinetley getting a videographer , even more so because its a DW wedding I want to be able to show everyone that couldn’t make it . It’s lovley to look back on photographs but there’s something really special about being able to watch a film back . Deffinetley an investment with money well spent !

Videography was the number 1 thing I wanted for my wedding. I spent more on videography than anything else, except the food and rings. The venue was less. My dress was less. Photography was less.
To me, nothing will beat the sentimental value of being able to watch our ceremony again. I mean, the proposal was amazing and perfect, but I couldn’t remember what he said 5 minutes later! Too many emotions and too much excitement.

If my budget was bigger I definitely would. Photos are very important to me and I still didn’t have the funds to hire a truly professional photographer. I may have someone film it though so my kids can watch it. I always get choked up watching other people’s weddings so I’m sure I’d enjoy being able to watch mine down the road.

@Birdi: :-D, yes I am sure my FI has visions of me making him watch it on our anniversary every year or something. Maybe say to your FI I promise I won’t make you watch it if you dont want too if you let me work it into the budget. Worth a shot ;-).
@Pearl-princess: thanks for your reply. Yes I have decided to get one too.
@Christy42213: Wow – thats awesome. I know what you mean, I cant rememeber the words of my proposal either.
@mrs-SC: Yes, I get alump in my throat too lol 🙂

I’m getting one! It’s always nice to be able to look back and see those moments You missed. Besides, us brides miss all the good stuff prior to our entrance. I know a couple that watches their wedding video every anniversary! Sweet bonding traditions 🙂
