I’m trying to decide about whether to try and scrape together funds to check out the food, cake and venue beforehand however funds are pretty tight. Does anyone regret not doing so? My Destination Wedding is not a traditional package, I’ve mainly done a ton of reviewing/websurfing/finger crossing this whole adventure and I guess I’m looking for some consoling.

We made two trips to the island before we chose our venue. We spoke to the coordinator for the hotel as well, but haven’t had a tasting menu and are hoping for the best. Haha. Granted, we did enjoy every meal on the island and this hotel is the top hotel to have a wedding on the island so I’m hoping things will be smooth and okay!!
Where were you thinking about holding your ceremony?!

We didnt go to the resort beforehand, we did our best to read reviews and find the best resort to get married at. We didn’t taste any of the food or cake either, we were really just hoping for the best! They did have options for the dinner though, so everyone could pick what they wanted, and it all worked out really great.

- Wedding: October 2013 - Dalhousie Castle
I only saw mine when I arrived 1 week before the wedding. My mum had checked it out for me though. It was all fine though.

@salejolie: Nope. Totally winging it. We’ve been to the location before for holidays over the past couple of years, but we’re not planning on visiting beforehand to plan/organise.
That said, we’re going to head over there about 4 days before the wedding (we’re having our hen’s and buck’s there as well) to go over any last minute stuff. We might check things out then, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.
Don’t worry. Just do your research (Google, Facebook, vendor websites) and phone around if you want to know more.

@salejolie: I didn’t but Darling Husband had been there for work and he already knew abut the food, things to do there, etc so since he knew first hand I felt safe but if neither of us were familiar then I might want to go. I feel like you really get mixed reviews on yelp, trip advisor….its hard to really trust that too much…jmo

@ksus07: Thanks for the vote of confidence. I think I’ve already nixed a musical group as their only review was from 2012 and they have a youtube station that hasn’t been updated since 2009!
@mumkin: Finally put the deposit today!! Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. Its called the Celebration Pavilion and its so beautiful!!!!
