Thanks for the heads-up! I need to schedule my third/final fitting soon, so I'll make sure to ask my seamstress about this. My mom has a hand steamer and I was already assuming that I could use it to get rid of any traveling-induced wrinkles on my dress!
Thank you for the warning. I don't have my dress yet but that's a good question to ask the seamstress. I'll be traveling for our 2nd reception and will have to put my dress on a plane! I thought the hand steamer would do.

3 months ago I posted for ideas about how to get the dress de-wrinkled after travel.. It's a Nicole Miller silk dress. Anywho, I had decided that my friend's hand steamer would be the best way to handle any wrinkles OR to hang it in the bathroom while I showered. Wrong! I'm glad I checked with my seamstress first. She told me that if I got it steamy, that it would literally stretch another couple of inches and just be unwearable in time for the wedding. She basically told me "don't wrinkle it" but if i had to, just to use an iron on SUPER LOW, on the inside of the fabric, possibly w/ a buffer. Just an FYI for you silk / nicole miller dress brides. Don't ruin $$$ and alterations work by steaming your dress! Ask your professional :)
